Anyone know much about these? I can't find a lot of info as far as reliability. I figured with all the experience on this board i could get some input. Thanks

I had a red '97 1200S. It was a GREAT bike, I owned it for 3 seasons without any trouble.  I sold it to a friend in need who is still riding it, and he has also had no trouble with it. And he beats it without mercy.

I think they are excellent machines. The '96 to '01 as the ones I am familiar with. They have a loyal following. Good bikes usually do!

A friend has a 97 with 60,000 miles . Excellent reliability. 2 chain/sprocket sets and a new stator at 50,000 is all it has ever needed. Highly recommended

To my knowledge, the only recall on the "96-97-98" GS1200F, was for a few bikes using oil w/hard use...solution upon verification of excessive  oil consumpion  was replacement of pistons & rings (courtesy of Suzuki) I've done 1... I own a "97", w/ no probs at over 40K mi.  Without a doubt, the most competent, comfortable bike I've owned. the only complaint I had, was, the stock seat kept me sliding up into the tank. a corbin seat, & Viola..It amazes me that low mileage Bandit 12's are always availible & cheap.. my 2 cents, G

I had an '03 (same engine) they are reliable as a rock, very understressed, will last forever. There is a very large following, therefore an excellent aftermarket parts supply.

Congrats on your Bandit 12, hope you get it. One of the biggest followings for Bandit 1200S machines is over in the UK. Check out all the stuff on Ebay.UK.....

I went and picked it up yesterday and got it home after some adventures with a really crappy bike trailer. I  have to do a couple of little things to it, bit it runs like a beast.

Right on, they are SUCH a blast to ride. After puttering about on my CB, getting on the 12 was a real eye opener  :o
