Topic: Rear Brake Shoes help

I'm installing a set or rear brake shoes in my drum.

The shoes have holes that'll fit the nipples on the inner brake cover, followed by a plate and pins.
One of my brake shoes does not fit. Is there a difference between the upper and lower shoe? Should I help it by force? Its greased already but it seems the id and od don't match on one shoe.

Am I missing something? Thanks

Any corrosion on the backing plate pin? Maybe a little steel wool or emery cloth on the pin and in the hole in the shoe? Put a verner caliper on each (the pin on the plate and the hole in the shoe) and report the difference. Are they Honda parts or aftermarket?

I just pulled my old shoes from the trash and tried to refit them, Its the same! The one oh the right is very tight. It'll go in if I force it with a hammer.

Don't reccommend pounding them on, the shoes need to pivot on this pin. Wipe the grease off and take some fine steel wool or fine emery cloth to the stubborn pivot pin. Shouldn't take much, the fit is close so any corrosion would likely be the culprit.

Corrosion is common here due to dissimilar metals, aluminum on steel.

I'll clean it further. There is no corrosion there and that grease is new. I will try the steel wool too. again. the old shoes fit the same, one fits tight and the other just drops in.

My trick is to work on the shoe ,it'softer than the pin,roll up some fine emery stick in hole and carefully rotate to size

Well....I pounded it in being the impatient me. Once it got passed the top, it went in easier and pivots right. I lubbed it too. All is well. Thanks gents.
