750 K8 Idle Screw O Rings
« on: June 01, 2010, 06:12:24 PM »
Trying to find the right idle screw "O Rings" to replace mine.
The ones that came out actually are flat on the washer side and beveled on the carb surface side making me wonder if they were actually "o rings" to begin with or some special kind of washer shape. Maybe just being in there 32 years re-shaped them into what they are now. The rings removed are 5.33 mm od
Was able to find a couple of 5.08 mm od o rings locally, which matches the size of the metal washer, and the inside diameter fits snug on the screw itself. Good enough??

Have you tried an online OEM parts dealer's exploded view of your carbs to see what you need? Then just order some? I've got a K4, so I dunno 'bout no K8 ;)

Yep....got 2 choices on factory, either a screw set @ $14 EACH, or a gasket set for $16 EACH! (x4!!)
Doesn't offer the ring sepatately, or give it's size.

Looks like, in your second photo above, that the one on the right is the new seal (seems correct) and the one on the left is the old, conformed one. I don't think you want the old smashed profile for your carb rebuild.

Thanks for the reply, Bob.
The "replacement" ones on the right are from a different brand carb, and I'm trying to find out the correct size I need. I'm thinking they might be a little bit small on the od.
They are probably 5mm od.
O Rings USA lists them in 1/2 mm size increments, ie 4.5, 5, 5.5, 6 etc. for $.04 each, so I ordered a bunch.

Well, none of the o-rings I ordered worked, one was snug enough on the shaft but not large enough diameter on the outside. The one large enough on the outside was loose on the shaft#%&$@!*&^!!
So......back to the Artic Cat dealer and found part #4505-011...idle screw o-ring for a 250 Artic Cat ATV and it works fine. That is the one shown on the right in the pic above.
