Viable Stock exhaust replacement?

I'm rebuilding a '73 CB500, and as you'd expect my exhaust is completely rotted out.  My baffles are rusted all the way through the bottom seams, and where the mufflers met the headers was essentially toast.  I, like the rest of you I'm sure, don't want/have the money to spend $800 on a new stock exhaust.  Though the mufflers are done for, the rest of my headers don't look bad.  I was wondering if anybody possibly had any experience with these?

I'd like to go for a stock look and not have to worry about rejetting etc. I know its obviously not the same, but does anyone know if it's close enough?

Can you "Make it work?" Yes, you can. You can make anything work with enough time, energy, tools and perseverance. The things you need to watch out for are (and I say this after working on only 750's) the shape of the pipes and any deformities. The 750 pipes have a few spots where they have been clearanced to make room for Brake linkage and what not. You may find some bends in your stock pipes where as those Dunstall tips are just straight.

Just thing to think about.

Though you pose an excellent point that I had yet to think of, I was meant to direct my question specifically towards fuel/air mixture.  I apologize, as I was unclear in my question.

I guess all that we can do is try it!   Then we'll be the ones with knowledge in that rea and we can say to people "yay or nay." At least it'll be cheaper than NOS and should look relatively similar, right?

If nothing changes but the pipes, you should be all set. BUT, every bike is different, and it would be worth doing some plug chops to be on the safe side.
