Need advise on selling a parts bike
« on: June 03, 2010, 05:39:46 AM »
Here is the add I put in Criag's List:

Quote

I am selling a parts bike that was once a 1989 Suzuki Katana 600 (GSX600F). I bought this bike as a parts bike and got the parts I needed off of it. I was planning on using the rest as another project, but I simply don't have the time or money needed for that project. The frame is straight as far as I can tell. The engine is complete (has some oil leaks) as are the carbs and rear suspension. There is no front end on the bike and no wheels or tires. The tank is there, its clean on the inside and holds Gas without a problem, but there is a bit of Bondo on it. Not sure how big the dent is underneath the Bondo, I haven't bothered to look. When I bought it there was a problem with the electrics. The guy said, "If you just jump these two wires and plug this thing into that socket, it runs just fine." I never bothered to figure it out.

I would love to get this thing out of my garage. I don't want to tear it to pieces and sell it part by part. Let me know if you might be interested. The frame or engine by themselves are worth the asking price and you get both. No title, but a bill of sale. I can send pictures upon request.

I got two nibbles, and then nothing else. I'll let the add run it's course and then I figure I need to try something else. I really don't want to tear this thing apart, but if I can't sell the carcass, I will. If I do that, does anyone happen to know what can be done to these old GSX600 engines? Might as well hop it up if I'm going to sell it, huh?

eh.

You got the parts you needed, so anything else is gravy.  Part it out on ebay.  Give the rest to your local motorcycle salvage yard.  Craigslist isn't really the best venue to part out a bike.  Ebay is better for that.

Maybe there's a forum specific to that model? Maybe you can post it there for sale?
