Who Rides With A Back Pack? Anyone Have a Boblbee?
« on: June 27, 2010, 11:43:55 AM »
I ride with a back pack most of the time out of necessity to carry my laptop. Curious if anyone owns a Boblbee backpack? Wanted 1st hand reviews. Was thinking of investing in one. Claims to be a back protector in addition to all of its functionality . . .

I ride with a back pack now and then, I have a camel back bag. It has to be the best fitting bag I've ever owned bit it still gets tiring. That is why I'm trying to figure out some sort of saddle bag setup. That bag looks cool. I would compare the weight to other bags. Are there any advantages to this bag beside looking like part of the Iron Man suit?

I've ridden with one numerous times. I found though, that it was way more comfortable to bungee the backpack to the seat behind me that actually wear it. My biggest complain was the straps rather than the weight. I found the shoulder straps made my armoured jacket uncomfortable and the pull strap ends would flail in the breeze.

Sorry I can't speak to that particular brand mine was basically a day pack from MEC so certainly not designed for this application.

I ride with this, just about everywhere

The reason is because I got it SUPER cheap, my cousin works for Nike.

I just use a basic Jansport. The one with the extra compartment. It holds a bunch more if need be. I make sure everything is snug before I head out.

I rode with a Thor motocross back pack and would carry all my books for college and stuff (20 lbs) and I never had a worry.  It had wide shoulder straps and a stomach strap so you wouldnt have to worry about the straps seperating and falling off.  It also had clips to put the extra length of strap into so it didn't flop around.
All glory to the hypno-toad.

Timbuk2 extra-large messenger bag. 1 big padded strap - hangs off one shoulder - snap on the chest strap and let it sit on the seat behind you for heavier loads. Rubberized interior - basically waterproof.

Has worked well for me almost 10 years now.

It's freaking cavernous as well
Volume: 3067 cu. in. (50.3 L)

Dimensions: 26.3" top width x 20.3" bottom width x 9" depth x 14" height (66.7 x 51.4 x 22.9 x 35.6 cm).

My ex-girl had one of those harshell packs, they suck IMO. Any backpack with straps around your waist are uncofortable on a bike.

I ride with a Kriega, and anybody who is serious about riding with a backpack on a motorcycle should get one. It's the only backback that's comfortable when leaned over, and stays in place better than anything else too. It's doesnt' work for hiking or anything else, but that's not what it's designed for. It has a harnass on your chest holding it it place and taking a lot of weight off your shoulders, looks kinda like a parachute. And all the straps and wires are held in place, so nothing flaps around on your back at high speed (150 mph plus)

I've used it on a 2000 mile trip, and it's perfect.

Expensive, but you'll thank me after buying it. It will also last forever, so it's cheaper than a cheap backpack.

Ogio Less Drag. Very comfy. Holds a helmet with an attatched bag when you are off the bike and walking around.

Ogio No Drag is slightly bigger if you carry a lot of stuff.

AXIO Fuse, needed a good laptop backpack, got a little pocket on the strap for my garage door opener, lots of nooks and crannies here and there. Good for a few clothes, or some books and very comfortable.

I have one that's kind of triangle shaped, but it holds a lot of crap. a messenger bag, kinda. it has a compartment that is just the right size for my back protector. so I put it in there and don't have to wear it in my jacket. it had #$%*ty plastic buckles and a fraying nylon strap so I replaced them with a canvas belt and metal buckle, it's a lot sturdier. had it for about 6 years now.
