Unleaded CB400F?
« on: June 30, 2010, 12:19:03 am »
Yep have read the FAQ which seems to imply unleaded is OK but is not totally clear and have also read rumours elsewhere that it is OK on all fours EXCEPT the 400F??? Can only assume this is due to the slightly higher compression at 9.4:1 instead of 9:1 perhaps?

Any UK 400 owners using unleaded OK? or is just 'super' unleaded the way to go? or do I need a fuel additive :-(

Well the US phased out leaded in the 70s.  We have been using our SOHC4's on unleaded since then. . . .   All the SOHC4s, including the 400s are capable or running on unleaded gas.  Use the correct octane rating for your application (for the 400 probably just regular base US 87 octane equivalent) in the unleaded variety.

Regular unleaded is what it was designed to be run on.  No need for special (more expensive) fuel or additives.
