I'm voting for gunmetal gray.

Thanks guys. I thought about silver and gun metal but had some reservations. Both would look really good but so many people have done silver. I haven't seen too many in gun metal. I want something different but it'll be hard to get something really different since so many people (on here especially) do really cool paint jobs. As far as the new car colors, I did see a Chevrolet Impala rolling around the other day that was some sort of weird gray pearl color that was cool. The idea for gray came around after I got the seat and tank primered up in gray primer. I think it looks sweet. It's kind of utilitarian looking. I think I'll just have to take some side profile pics and do some photoshop manipulation on them. Hopefully I can come up with something cool. And then give it a new name.

Here it is primed all one color. Even if its just in primer I couldn't stand the red and green.

I got the front fender cleaned up and primed and it is now on the bike. I think it looks pretty slick personally.

Things left to do:
Finish the body work on the side covers
Find the electrical gremlin causing the headlight to not work
Adjust the float levels and an all around carb tuning (got a set of tuning gauges the other day)
Wrap the exhaust (not because I really want to but because the chrome on those pipes isn't salvageable)
Figure out the issue with the rear brake
Weld on the rear seat bracket
Put on the new chain
Ride the monkey

Sent the bike off to be tuned up today. Some things are just beyond my area of un-expertise. There is a guy in town that can fix just about anything automobile related so my buddy Bob and I took it to him to adjust the carbs and fix the headlight and rear brake. We snapped a pic of it before we took it in though.

The green bike is Bob's KZ400 that we did up earlier this year. Each bike we do gets a little bit better. The Yamaha RD350 we're getting ready to do should be even better than these.

I also ordered some new tires today. Should have them in a few days.

Looking good.

You forgot one thing for the list:

Indeed I did. Thanks for the reminder meriggi. I think I have settled on something in the gray/silver family but what exactly I don't know. I was reading a deal on the BCR website that talked about not using bright colors because it takes away from the rest of the bike. It makes sense to me. Do a color that compliments the dark frame and the black engine and all of the other black stuff. If I ever get another personal project going I will do a frame in the legend lime though. It'll be sick.

Here are some new ideas for tank design.

I'm leaning more towards this one. It is simple and clean and gets the point across.

This one is probably too much and not very attractive.

Who knows. I may go a completely different direction. It is hard to come up with something original. Everything has been done already.

I don't know... I kind of like it... (I like it in white as well)

I vote for the smaller one but that's me.  Hell if it were me I'd make it even smaller but then again I like to keep people guessing I don't even have badges.  ;D

Thanks for the input guys.

KB02-I like the bigger design it just seems to be missing something. It looks a little plain for what it is.

Old75-I normally go for badgeless designs but there is a lot of area that will be painted and I think it needs something to break it up a little.

Anybody have any other ideas? Doesn't matter how wild it is.

For some reason I just keep going back to this design:

It has a classic feel without feeling like it is an outdated design. Plus there are so many color combinations that it could work with. Especially white on green.

If this were the option I go with it would be legend lime with a bright white graphic.

So many choices. Don't know what to do. If I only had several more bikes to do one of each design.

OK, so one of my buddies was reading my build thread and decided to help out with the paint scheme. He posted this pic on my facebook and I must say I am really diggin it. I will probably have to call it project Aaron now. His face, my bike, what more could a person ask for?

Haha! Never thought of that. What would he think if someone peed on his face. Reminds me of the time I was in Mexico City and a guy got out of his car and just peed in the middle of the street. That was awkward.

I peed off the roof of a building into a cornfield right below it once. Good times.
