Another CB550 jetting question..
« on: July 08, 2010, 08:11:17 PM »
...took a part a decent running 550 with a 4-1, and pods.

Rebuilding the carbs I found 38 slow jets and 105 mains.

Just curious if I am correct that stock is 40, 100. (not sure if I'm correct), but if I am does it seem odd to increase the main, but go to a smaller slow speed.

Thanks for the input.

In the FAQ, you will find a chart with the stock sizes.  There are different model 550s.
I'm guessing you have an early K model, since you didn't specify.

#38 pilot jets were standard for these with #100 mains.  Not hard to believe pods and pipe changes needed #105s.  The slide needle is probably not in stock location either.

The idle air bleed setting can probably compensate for the increased fuel needed for idle and throttle up response without going to a larger pilot jet.
