The 750 has more power and the probably made more of them, but it's heavier and doesn't handle as well as the 550 right outta the box.  The motor also has to come out of the frame for any top end work on the 750.  On the 550 you can do it with the motor still mounted.   And top end problems do rear their heads, usually an o-ring at the ends of the head or chain tensioner that won't work.
There also seems to be a lot more changes throughout the 750 model years that make parts non-interchangeable,  mostly cosmetic stuff.  A 750 expert can chime in here.  The 550s seem to interchange pretty well from F and K with a few exceptions.
If you like the 550 enough to consider getting it, I'd check the operation of the cam chain tensioner, pull the tank and sidecovers and do an inspection of the wiring harness to see if it's hacked up or burned at all.  Those seem to be the biggies on the 550s.
I'm 5'11" 190 and I fit on the 550 okay, though it was uncomfortable at first because of my clubman bars.  I work out a lot more now and it's fine.  Shoulder and forearm strength is key here.  My brother says I look huge on it.  Truthfully I think some true clipons would be best.  They're a little higher and usually not as sever an angle as the clubmans.  Lots of people do rearsets, just do a search.

Aren't the green Dyna coils 3 ohm?

If so, they suck two much power for the 550's charging system.  You can expect dead batteries, (and dead bike) frequently.

Trade them for 5 Ω primaries.

so you were right about the coils they drain my battery alot.... question is what can I do about it other than changing them out. they abviously can work some how..cant they?

other question got new mini indicator markers. got them to blink for a bit then they went dead.checked my flasher its fine. the wiring diagram says that theres a (black, gray and green wire) the black and gray are hooked up to the flasher where does the green wire go? dont see anywhere for it to plug into.

thanks for the help

Stu

Ps keep posted new pics and video of it running will be up soon

You can reduce the coil power draw some by inserting a 1 ohm resistor in series with the coil power input.  But, it still won't be as low as 5 ohm coils.  I didn't notice if you are using points or a dyna ignition.  The dyna-s will make all coils draw ~30-40% more power than the points do, as they provide far less "off time" to the coils than points do.

Some flashers are three terminals types.  The green wire is a ground for those to use.  Honda says, "you're welcome".
Some flashers are load and voltage sensitive.  As the battery drains away from peak charge, they slow or stop flashing.
The stock flasher was selected to match the stock lamp loads.  Want to be an engineer?  Deal with design changes.  ;D

so i yanked out the dyna coils and went back to stock. too bad too i like the red dyna wires. but still cant figure out my flasher

if i take off the black wire and attach the green wire it flashes but gets hot fast... maybe i need a 3 pronged flasher?

Do you have a solid state flasher, if not you can get them at the autoparts store they take very little current to trip and will work with LED's or standard bulbs

Mark

and you can get them in 2 or 3 prong
