sooking and whinging-Aussie talk
« on: July 09, 2010, 12:01:27 PM »
Whinging I know because I dated a South African girl but have never heard a North American use the term, but 'sooking'?  You Australins have a super language and I like it but where I come from we 'piss and moan', we don't sook and whinge.  Does it work?  I think I'll try it.

I could be wrong, but i think the word they were looking for sulking.  Like sulking in the corner cause you didn't get your way.  Or I could be way off (it's happened before ;))  Anyway I'm sure we'll get an explaniation soon.

Guys guys guys............"sooking" (sp?) means having a whinge and moaning about things instead of trying to do something about it. Bit like a little kid throwing a tantrum until it gets its way. Sometimes, in some states (eg Tas), people who do this are known as "sooky sooky la la's", but I struggle using that term. "Cockhead" is easier to say. ;)

It's not "sulking" - that's more what you do after you've had a sook. But they are closely related.
Anyway, that's my 2c worth. Now stop sooking, fair suck of the sav, and get back to more interesting posts....... :P ;D

There's also woosing or being a woos.
Whinging, whining, being a big sheila's blowse.
Carrying on like an unregisterd dog or an epileptic rooster.
Sooking over nothing in particular is also called a Wasted Woos.  ;D :D
If I was you
I'd be worried about me.

I just learned about whinging on Jeopardy yesterday! The the answer was that in England, whinging meant the same as whining in the US. Now please translate "fair suck of the sav". Take good drink of beer? :D
