Are parts readily available/inexpensive for these twins? What do you think about these bikes?

I'm trying to figure out how much money I'd have to put into it IF I bought it. I'm guess tires/tubes, exhaust, possible chain, plugs, carb gaskets, Front brake- MC, brake hoses and stuff, possible points. Probably about $400-500.

I would not buy that bike. You can look/wait and you'll see much nicer, running examples go for $1,000~1,500 and you'll have twice the bike. Seriously, the only way you take on a project like that is if you want to be busy for the next 6 months. Everything on that bike needs to be handled, replaced, fixed, re-plated, repainted, or rebuilt. I've done several like that and it's not done cheap or quickly.

I can dig it Gordon. I was just kinda looking for a new project bike, since the old project bike is about done. I'm not sure I'm looking to restore one this time, just maybe looking to see if I can get a real junker working and running. Increase my technical proficiency. That one is a real turd. I wasn't really thinking about offering the full price either.

You can do that and I've made a hobby out of it, but I don't have kids, don't make car payments, and the wife is ok with me spending an hour in the garage every night. It's hard to do with kids and a social calendar.

It is expensive though, so throw the budget out the window. Check out the CL77 restoration in this same thread catagory.

No kids or car payments here either, although I think the girlfriend gets jealous of the 550.

I'm just looking I guess. One project at a time though: first change civic timing belt, then go get the Type II waiting in storage.  :)
