Topic: What have I done?

Last Friday I bought a 2003 Triumph Speedmaster. I just couldn't help myself. It's low mileage and came with a lot of extras. It's a great bike with lots of power, especially at only 790cc. Don't worry though, I'm keeping both my CB750s. It's amazing how different it rides than the old Hondas. Besides the craptastic bikes I rode in the MSF Basic class, my '74 CB750s are the only bikes I'd ridden.

 Pretty sharp ride an IF it satisfies YOU, that's all that counts. Personally, I'm tired of all of the stuff about V-twins.

I'm kind of a fan of them.... Parts are a bit of an issue... but you honestly shouldn't need anything motor specific for some time....

One of my bikes is a 78 750 Bonneville and it's a century behind the quality of yours....  a couple of my triumph pals have these and the ride quality is outstanding... everything a new bike should be with enough retro look to be fun to play with...

Thanks guys. Its got Epco stainless steel pipes, which sound awesome (like the old Triumphs) but are loud as hell. The PO threw in the stock pipes too, but they are practically silent. I'm not really a fan of loud pipes, but they sound good. Though I did feel like an ass riding through my neighborhood last night around 11. I'm not sure yet which ones I'm going to keep on the bike.

One of the reasons I didn't get a Bonnie T100 a couple of years ago. The dealer said that the aftermarket pipes (louder) would cost £700. I thought f*ck that; I buy a new bike and I immediately have to fork out just under ½ my monthly salary just to bring it to my tastes?? No way.

There's a guy on the Bonneville America forums that for $100US will cut out/drill the baffles on the stock pipes to get better sound out of them. I may do that.

Yeah, the Triumph dealer in Roseville is a bit of a drive for me, but I've visited it a few times. I ended finding this bike on Craigslist at a great price and I just couldn't pass it up. I think I got a way better deal than buying a brand new one at $10k. But it's nice to have a dealer sort of nearby though for parts and such.

I know what you mean. My dad's bike is about 1700cc. I just can't comprehend that. What I meant though was that it felt like the Triumph has a lot more power for being about 50cc larger. Though I understand that's it a combination of newer technology and 7 year old parts compared to 36 year old parts.
