Replacing footpeg rubbers
« on: July 22, 2010, 09:36:23 AM »
I got a good deal on CB750 foot peg rubbers otherwise I wouldn't bother but is there a method of getting the old ones off besides a knife and are the new ones supposed to be glued on. Sorry about this. It's kind of trivial but just thought I'd ask.

Just brainstorming, I've never tried to get them off, but it's something I'll have to do eventually. My right rubber is just about worn through after a spill I took last year. So I'm interested to hear what others have done.

Off the top of my head, maybe if you can get the tube from any aerosol spray lube into the gap it might get it to slip right off?

Heat it with a heat gun?

Compressed air between the peg and rubber while you pull it off?

I used a utility knife with short blade. You do not have to cut all the way down to the steel peg. Just get it started and you should be able to peel it off. Air and lube were not able to penetrate the tight bond on mine. Some of those front rubbers have a small hole you can try some air to pop it off.
