A quick 'thank you'
« on: July 22, 2010, 02:07:26 PM »
As many of you know, I just got a CBR 600RR.  So I joined a 600RR forum to see what those guys are up to.

Many of those dorks have really long obnoxious signatures.  They either list all 236 of their mods, or they quote some dork that said some dorky thing they thought was funny (this takes up a lot of space), or they have some idiotic animated gif that gives me a seizure, or they do some combination of these things.

Not a single person in the SOHC4 forum does this to my knowledge.

THANK YOU!

Umm, regarding the "dorky things".  You haven't spent much time in the South Side Dive Bar, have you?

haha, I remember thinking that everyone had sigs way too long to bother scrolling down a whole page to read 5 posts on most of the forums I've looked at. Ugh, Thanks SOHC4.net.

Yes all that crap does get ponderous at times.  Silly when a quarter of the page is taken up by their sigs, gifs, and quotes, not to mention all the darn ads at the top of those pages.

I'm on a couple other forums.  This is easily my favorite.  Not only is the forum nice but my heart is really with the SOHC4 bikes.  I've learned so much here and made lots of friends.  The cross-section of people that appreciate SOHC4s is much different than more recent/popular bikes like a 600RR.

Thank you Soichiro for being part of this forum.

I too, am a member of another forum [Honda S2000].

Although we all have a common interest in that car, most of the posts have very little to offer so I get bored quickly and usually return to SOHC4!

Thanks guys.

I'm a member of a massive number of forums. 3 local car forums, a local gun forum, several DSM forums, several GM forums, and 2 other honda sites.

This, by far, is the best forum I've ever joined. Very little flaming going on, a massive knowledge base, and very active members. The fact that 90% of the posts are proper sentences is an added bonus.

Thanks for everything sohc4.net!

Thank the stars for that bit...I was raised in a very literate household, and proper grammar and punctuation is an important thing.  What's with these "kids" and their huge blocks of text with no punctuation at all - even a customary period to let us know a sentence is over?

Yep, that's a strong part of this site, and I as well, am a fan of reasonable sig lines.

Only about 2 weeks in over there and already someone hates me because my signature reads,

Quote
I hate your long stupid signatures!  Do you need to list all 236 of your mods?!  Do you need to quote some dork that said some dorky thing you think is funny?!  And do you need that stupid animated gif that about gives me a seizure?

;D

Well, maybe "hate" is a strong word.  But someone retaliated against my signature.  He called me a dumb noob.   :)
