Topic: My CB450 VIN numbers don't match.

Ok, I just purchased a CB450 and today I was planning on getting insurance and title and registration, etc.. in my name.

So the Insurance guy says, "what's the VIN?" I said , "I don't know, I'll get back to you."

I look at the title and it reads cb450e6----74. I look at the vin badge on the head tube and it says cb450e6----25. The ID on the motor matches the VIN on the title.

How big of a problem is this for me? Do I give the insurance co. the title VIN #? Do I tell them about the two VIN's. What about when I register/title this in my name? Won't it only be in the Engine's VIN number? If I tell the DMV about this dilemma, will they just assume I'm up to something shady and have me arrested?

What are the scenarios where this will give me headaches? I'm assuming if it's stolen and if I try to sell it. Anything major I'm missing?

Thanks for the quick reply with excellent info. I was going to be very annoyed if this was a problem.

I forgot to mention I was in Illinois. Turns out either the engine or frame can match, and everything is good. That's a relief.
