I recently purchased a 1972 CB750 with a Paul Dunstall Racing conversion. The conversion consists of a stationary fairing, clip-on bars, fiberglass tank, seat/rear body section, rear set controls, and 4 into 2 header system. The bike was wrecked early in its life and suffered minor damage, (broken fairing which is missing except for mounts, and points cover) and was apparently then put into storage as it has done only 4014 miles. My question is can anyone provide any background history on the Dunstall conversions for Japanese bikes. I have spent a lot of time stomping around on the net and have found very little information. The Dunstall conversions on Nortons are fairly well known and documented but information on the UJM's is hard to find. I've seen information suggesting that kits were made for Honda, Kawasaki, and Suzuki. I found one pic on a web site, that was of the cover of a Dunstall sales brochure, of a bike that had the same body work as mine. I have found pics of a few bikes on cafe' racer websites of bikes with the same tank but different rear body work. The body work on my bike looks like that on the Nortons, the other pics I've seen look like the CR750 in the seat and tail. I've been told (by the guy that sold me the bike) that the kits could be bought piecemeal and that bikes that had the complete kit installed were very rare. Do any of the old timers have any knowledge that they would care to share?
