I’ve been thinking of getting a vintage bike for awhile now.   Last week I saw a 1975 CB550f Super Sport on craigslist.org.   It looked clean in the pictures.  The owner seemed like a straight shooter on the phone so I went out to see it and ending up riding it home.   It’s clean!  New tires, new paint;  I’ll post some pictures.  I’m not mechanically gifted, so it will be great to have a resource like this site.  Looking forward to sharing the adventure.
Cheers,

Welcome aboard Neil,
I have a 77 super sport myself.
A wealth of knowledge is now at your fingertips.
These guys like pics, so post them.
Glad you were able to ride the bike home.

Hi Neil, welcome to the site.  Good thing about these old bikes is how simple they are to work on.  For basic maintenance up to intermediate tasks you don't need any advanced tools, but it's good to have a variety of screwdrivers, picks, ratchets and sockets, maybe a set of jackstands and a jack.  Definitely pickup an impact driver (the one you hit with a hammer).

I have a 550F myself, don't you just love the header?
Just call me Timmaaaaay!!!

Greetings from Milpitas.  (Where I haven't seen a local cornfield in 15 years.)

I happen to think that the F models were best of breed for the CB550.

Don't forget, these bikes need a routine tune-up every 3000 miles.

Best to get the Honda Shop manual instead of the Clymer.
