LONGER SHOCKS...Ideas & Reccomendations
« on: August 25, 2010, 08:33:31 am »
Hello All... I would like to add about 1" to the height in the rear end.

My K8 shocks are approx. 13 1/2" from bolt to bolt now.
I am looking for something in the 14 1/2" range.

I really like the look of the 82' 900F shocks...with their resevoirs...but it's hard to find a set in good shape.

I need something "cheaper" for now... then maybe something better later...but under $200 would be nice!

Any ideas? Recommendations?  Experience??

Thanks in advance!!!

I've been thinking of raising the rear end of my '71 CB750K1.  It should make it actually possible to put the bike on the centre stand.  It's quite impossible for me now.  Right now I have Koni shocks.  I haven't measured the current length.  An additional inch or so should do it.

Best regards,

George

the Midi/Forsa shocks sold by a bunch of folks (partsnmore.com for one) can be purchased in a 14 3/8" length (get the ones listed for the CB1100F) and they work quite well.  Price is $80 including shipping.

Springing is a little on the stiff side, but other than that no complaints.

Use lift blocks (or lowering blocks in reverse)...

Not our bikes (at all) but you get the idea. See post 18.

Hell, you can make your own for about $10 if you can weld and have access to some flat bar stock

if you've got $200 to spend consider a set of hagons. They're available up to 365mm I believe with the clevis end and get set up for your bike/rider damping/spring requirements.

I mean, if you've got the money get something decent...
