Hey FB I used the Cycle X small speedo on my last build. http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=82100.0 I used it in combination with the stock tach and just fabbed up a mount for the two. It worked OK for speed but the trip meter didn't seem to be right on it.  I only rode the bike for about 150 miles before I sold it or I probably would have called them and asked for a replacement.

Well ...the original plan was to use the STainless bracket I got from Architect. The two cylinders on it popped off during shipping, but I mounted it anyway and it was so shiny & clean I couldn't bring myself to actually use my grungy old tach & speedo. they didn't look so bad when I first got 'em, but I find as I keep rplacing parts with new bits...other parts start to look grimy.

Sooo...

Yeah...I got a long way to go, but I'm still way ahead of schedule.

How would you mount the smaller speedo and tach? Ive thought about going smaller on mine as well. Ive seen some around that have the idiot lights in them as well. But I am looking for some to mount to a bracket to get rid of my dash.

OK...Anyone have any idea if these will fit the K5 break line...er the connection...I forget what its called...Throw me a bone here.
Anyway...Any ideas? Their cheap enough that I'd "figure it out", but it be nice if it were a direct fit.

Re: 1975 CB750 K5 - JUST NEEDS: wheels and an engine!
« Reply #136 on: May 12, 2011, 02:07:44 PM »
Well, came to a major decision. I'm ditching all of the glossy 80's black stuff and going flat "satin" black with those parts instead. I already did the frame and the wheels (rims and hubs) are getting powdered the same way as I write this.

I'm trading the new powder-coat guy out in a swap for some clean engine covers that he will do in flat black and he's keeping my old Glossy ones.

That just leaves the triples, lower forks, battery tray/tool tray and rear swing arm to get re-blasted and re-coated.
I'm not overly concerned with time at this point. Bike is almost done and I will be riding it as id for a few months before everything is complete anyway.

ON that note...I also decided on the gauges and lights as well as a few other tasty bits.

Getting these gauges:

You will note that the speedo has the idiot lights built in which means I'm ditching the stock indicator bar panel for this:

Next, I decided on a different set of lights. Getting the dual headlight dominator lights in Black.
In fact I'm even using the same brackets in the pic.

Also, Here are some more pics of the bike!

Hey Free Booter
Great build, I have a 75 Plant blue 750 that I am in the process of restoring. I hope it come out as nice, granted a little different, as your. I read that you took you seat cover off. I am in need of one so if you are willing to let it go I would be interested. Send me a PM or whatever, thanks

Thanks for the compliment.
Sorry to say, but the seat cover was already traded to another forum member for a much needed fork brace. If its any consolation...it was in great condition and will hopefully bring another bike to full restoration condition. I can say that I highly recommend the gentleman who made my seat though. I if you search my build log you will see his contact info or do a search for Nate's Sewing on Google. Good luck in your search  for a cover. I know re-productions can be expensive and originals are difficult to find in good condition. If you are willing to spend some cash...might be worth it to get one custom made. I know I am very happy with mine.

Still looking for a Kickstand folks! any ideas? LOL

Hey, Buddy - your build is coming along nicely!  I'm excited to see how it all comes together.  I did keep my kickstand on my bike.  I just like using the centerstand, since my slightly longer rear shocks cause my bike to lean waaaayyyy over when it's on the kickstand.

BUT . . .  I see this kind of thing for cheap on eBay - might be a good option.

Or, if you prefer more the stock route:

The chromeone on eBay is nice. I don't have time to check, they do give the dimensions, but when we sold those back in the day, they were a lttle longer than stock for use with bikes with extended front ends. So check you dimension before buying.

I ordered those same gauges this week!

Also, I have those Tarrozzi rear sets, I would just warn you that they don't fold...and the right one blocks the kick start.

I'm in the process of ordering a folding hinge/bolt from them for the right peg so I can use the kick if I have to.

youve got plenty of room to get a nice Vampirella on the tank.

various stages of undress/breast size available at the google image search... I of course prefer the nice big bottom.
