That's incredible, some of those houses in Glendale are similar to houses in my street that would go for $400K plus. If my wife ever kicks me out, I know where I'm coming to retire!  ;D
they used to go for that much.  the housing market out here bubbled more than some other places.  Alot of people were moving out here driving the prices of houses up, which led to alot of real estate speculation driving the price up further.  when the economy took a dump, people stopped moving out here and in the following months and year alot of the speculators couldn't afford their mortgage payments.  as a result there are a plethora of empty houses on the west side of phoenix (glendale, peoria, suprise) that the banks are still holding onto because they don't want to take the loss yet.
Ah, the patter of little feet around the house. There's nothing like having a midget for a butler

Thanks Guys, and yeah, I'm up for some heat, it'll get hot here pretty soon (I hope, it's flooding as I type this, but at least the sun is shining) and we'll probably have some decent bushfires after all this rain, but Bobby tells me that Texans and Aussies are very similar, so I suppose the transition from wearing an Akubra hat to a ten gallon hat (on my half pint head.....) won't be too difficult! Now where can I get some pearl handled .45's? ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

This is the place to do it. OZ did not have the same recession we did, so u can think of us as a 3rd world opportunity.

Sorry Terry but you aren't old enough yet to move to Arizona. You see, Florida used to be the place where people went when they were feeling...well...old, but Arizona is now the new Florida. It seems that most parts of southern Florida have been inhabited by Cubans and Haitians on their road to freedom and most US Floridian old folks don't/can't comprehend this onslaught on their lifestyle. Their lifestyle being trailers and condos and shopping for bargains...and the "safety" that comes from living in a gated "community". ::) So they're pulling up stakes, trailer jacks and mortgages and moving west. Oh, and the "early bird special"...dinner at 3:30pm so that you can be in bed by 7...or 6...or 5? Do you think that you can handle it? Hmmm, I guess you could if you treated it like breakfast. ;D ;D

"Has anybody heard from Terry Lately?"

"No but didn't he move to Arizona recently? That's the new Florida you know..."

   "Yeah...well, that explains it."
