Topic: 196? basket case S65 - start on first kick! (Good weekend!)

Like the title says, I just had to share this.

My girlfriend bought a 196-something (can't remember the year...) S65.  The engine was completely torn apart when we got it.  I put the thing together without a manual (just by common sense, if you will), and I'll be damned if the thing didn't start on the very first kick!  I still can't believe it!

There's a lot of things left to fix (like a leaky petcock, for starters), but my girlfriend and I were ecstatic!


To make things even better, the next day (yesterday) we decided to try our two S90s.  Again, the first one started right away (not first kick, but maybe third), so I go tearing out of the driveway and down the block without a seat, with a leaky petcock, running on fumes, and a huge smile on my face, while my girlfriend laughs her butt off at the sight.  

The other S90 didn't have any spark, but hey... 2/3 isn't bad.  

I just had to share.

There's a rough S65 I might buy sometime in the future, if anything just for the fuel milage.

I don't think I have any pictures of the S65 at the moment, but if I knew it would have started the first kick, I would have videoed it!    Once I get some pictures I'll post them.  I've been holding out on you guys... I have several bikes that I haven't posted up here - that S65, those two S90s, a couple Dreams (150cc and 160cc), and a C90.  All project bikes in differing stages of completeness.  

The only picture I have is of one of the Dreams.  So here it is:

Okay, I finally snapped some pictures.  This first one is the S65 that inspired this thread (still needs some work, as you can see).




This next one is a 1975 CB 125 my girlfriend picked up this last Wednesday.
(You can see her C90 in the back.)



So her collection includes these two, the Dream above, a Dream parts bike, an S90, a C90, a CT90 parts bike, and the Ruckus.   A pretty good collection, I'd say.
