Awesome build.  I've justed started on my '76 F1.  I love the color.  I painted my CB360 the Honda Element color.  It was almost an exact match.

Question: how do you like the cafe seat height with the stock foot controls?  I'm thinking of using the same seat and not modifying my controls.

Thanks Cevan. That Element orange is nice and I was very close to going with that but in the end the Viper orange just kept calling.

As for controls, I really wish I had installed rearsets. I am 6' and I could use the extra leg room. I just didn't know any better when I was in that stage of my build. I have still been thinking of a way to add some rearsets without having to weld something and mess up my powdercoating. That said, my bike is still very rideable and not uncomfortable for me. The 75-76 F models have a couple different options for bolt on aftermarket rearsets (Raask, Tarozzi) and if they were available for the 77-78 F models I would have jumped on those. I still think the best option would be to use some Loaded Gun rearsets, or some crotch rocket rearsets with custom welded brackets installed on the frame.

Ahh, I didn't know the Tarozzi rearsets were bolt on for the F1.   I just called Fast from the Past and they are in stock.   ;)

One more question.  How thick was the aluminum pan you made for the seat?

I used .090" thick 2024 T3 aluminum.

Thanks! The spoke swap is still in the works. All Balls finally got bearings back in stock so I just ordered new stem bearings. I still need to order spokes and a fork brace. I have everything else but I need to send my parts for powdercoating. I am in no hurry because Summer just arrived in Seattle! I should have it completed in a couple more months.

did i hear through the rob-vine that you had a clutch basket issue? what was that all about? also what spoked rims you going with? im toying with the idea of throwing on ducati super classic wheels, or if i get a chunk of change the alpina tubeless spoked wheels.

I am still relatively new to these bikes. And this forum. But this has got to be one of the nicest bikes I have ever seen. I can't believe you're changing anything!  Are you gonna powdercoat the spoked wheels and frontend black?

Thanks for the props! I know, I cant believe I am changing stuff already myself. The Comstars are cool but I have never been 100% happy with them. I think spoked wheels are the way to go. Black powdered rims and hubs with stainless spokes and nipples. The forks, brakes, and everything else will be black powder as well.

Good call. Your powdercoater has to love seeing you come in!  But the black is the only way to go with your color scheme.

HAHAHAHAHAH!  $100!?  OK..i BID $100.01 !!

wOW...wISH I had the $$ for those bits, but then I'd have to find a frame for that '71 engine I got w/ a title....

Have to say though. I loved the bike just the way it was, but sometimes projects take on a life of their own and just beg to keep evolving.

good luck on the rebuild.
