I was thinking about grinding off the chainguard tabs but I am having a hard time justifying hacking it up. It also has a few small scratches but I may leave them as "patina"...

Aaawww man....losing another Comstar user to spokes.

What hubs are you using on the front or did I miss something? The '76 F's didn't have dual disks did they? My two cents, don't sell that stuff if you don't have to. It all came out so nice maybe another project is in your future?

BTW, still one of my favorite bikes on this forum, spokes or not. I've got some friends up your way & someday would love to ride up there & check it out in person.

I am using a 77 GL1000 front hub and discs. The rear hub is from a 75 CB750F. The GL front hub and the CB hub are the same part number.

you are using the early 77 GL forks right? The ones that had the spoked wheel? I heard that there is a difference between early and late GL forks in 1977
Forks for spokes need to have a spoked wheel and the same goes for comstars....well unless you start making custom parts

Whats the difference? Is it the forks or the trees that are different? To be honest all I know is they were advertised as 77 forks.

Again this is just my understanding,
The early 77 bikes had spoked wheels and the latter ones had the comstars, you cant put a stock spoked wheel where a comstar was.
The physical difference other is the caliper mounts. the early ones had the bolts spaced far apart, the latter ones use the same spacing as the 77/78 CB750 for the calipers
I think it comes down to the fact that the spoked wheels are 6 bolt rotors and the comstars are 5, also the rotors have different spacing

I was looking into using a latter GL fork so i could run the OEM twin piston calipers but i wanted to run my lester wheels.
since this is for my K bike i have a lester that was meant for spoke wheels (6 bolt rotor) so i need to use the early GL forks to have everything just bolt together.

x2, check the caliper mount spacing. If it looks wide compared to your F legs, you have the right fork legs.

The velocity stacks are the ones that come with the CR carbs. The velocity stack screens are something we found online and just slip over the mouth of the stacks. Pretty cool setup IMO.

Got the front end all buttoned up today. I am still working on getting my rear axle situation taken care of. Should be a few more weeks before she is road worthy again. Also figured I would give a sneek peak of the rearsets FunJimmy is helping tweakin and I design and build.
