Topic: Trying to restore my first 750K3.... Little help?

So I just bought a 750K3 and it's pretty much road ready and just needs a few things here and there. On of the projects I'm working is putting the seat on. The pan and nothing on it... No hinges, latch, rubber... I found some hinges on line and when the arrived today the do not line up with the bike and the seat. It's not the hinges that are the problem but the seat itself. As far as I can tell the wholes in the seat pan do not line up with where the hinges should be... Do I have a wrong seat? How do I tell? The seat is in really good condition, so I would like to use it one way or another... Any ideas on how to get this thing mounted??? Thanks for the help!

The best way to tell would be to show us some pics of the seat on the bike. A good shot of the hinges would be awesome.

Well, it looks to me like that seat doesn't belong to a 750 or at least not a 73 K model. It looks like there is a rather large gap between the front of the seat and the tank exposing the rubber strap that holds the back of the tank down. Could just be the angle or it might not be lined up properly. However, if you really want to make that seat work you could try attaching a new set of hinges to the seat or the frame. It all depends on how much you are willing to do to keep that seat.

It's actually just not lined up. The seat will go all the way to the tank by just sliding it up.... I'd like to make that seat work only because I don't want to have to buy a new one. Is there anyway to tell what kind of bike this seat might belong to???

I really don't know how to tell what it goes to, but if you have the other parts of the hinges, the part that attaches to the seat, I would try mounting the front one and seeing how it all lines up and then seeing where you need to move the other one to. I have another idea but try that first as it is the best option to retain the factory style setup.

I will try that... I have the pins on order as well as a set of rubbers (which I'm really hoping will line up with something). I was about to buy a seat latch set up as well but now I'm thinking I may need to wait...
