Seat issue... Please help...
« on: September 13, 2010, 03:01:01 PM »
So I just bought a 750K3 and it's pretty much road ready and just needs a few things here and there. On of the projects I'm working is putting the seat on. The pan had nothing on it... No hinges, latch, rubber... I found some hinges on line and when the arrived today the do not line up with the bike and the seat. It's not the hinges that are the problem but the seat itself. As far as I can tell the holes in the seat pan do not line up with where the hinges should be... Do I have a wrong seat? How do I tell? The seat is in really good condition, so I would like to use it one way or another... Any ideas on how to get this thing mounted??? Thanks for the help!

I made a shutterfly page with some seat pictures... The gallery wasn't letting me upload. The last two pictures are close ups of the hinges. The front one looks like it will fit but the holes on my hinges don't quite line up... Any insight you have would be appreciated.

Sounds like you either have the wrong seat or hinges. How "picky" are you that it is period correct?
If that is not a concern, could you rivet the pan to the hinges??

Good old fashined very heavy duty zip ties allow for a slight degree of line-up flexibility.. if I understand you right in wanting to use the seat as is.  Drill as needed, thread through and lock down.

Thanks for the good ideas... The frong hing looks like it shouldn't be to much of a problem. I'm a little concerned with the back hing because the pan starts to bend up right where the second hing is... All I want is for the seat to not slide when I'm riding. I wouldn't mind getting a correct seat... Just don't have the cash right now...

You'll need to reduce the pixel size of you rimages before uploading. I think it has a limit around 250kb pic size.
