Cleaning fuses holders Dumb question
« on: September 19, 2010, 07:25:33 AM »
I need to get my holders nice and shiny. Can I clean them with 000 steel wool? Suggestions are welcome!

That should work maybe wrap some around a round object. I use a 22cal. brush they are sold at any WALLmart in sporting goods section.

+1 on rolling paper into a tube.  Lets you slide it back and forth, as well as spin it.  A standard 'tool' if you've ever worked on British sports car Lucas systems. ;) ;) :)

Bluez

IMHO Bollingball told you the best way to do it. Emory paper will work but a .22 Cal bore brush is a perfect fit and will shine 'em like new in a few moments - slip it in both clips and twist it both ways with thumb and finger. Doesn't spread 'em - no possible damage. No messing with paper or something to wrap it around.

Either way WORKS  but the bore brush is perfect.

Cheap at K-Mart etc.

+1 Gaither.  After re-reading the thread I'd have to agree.  Won't know a 22 cal. brush if I tripped over it though. ;)  But will check out Walmart and add one to my tool box. :)

If you're into Lucas, you'll love the bore brush.

Really, it is perfect for the job. Plus, if you ever buy a .22 Cal pistol or rifle, you'll need one then, too.

Happy days!

Was into Lucas, got tired of trying to keep the smoke in.  SOHC's are much more fun. ;) :)

Never had a use for a .22, no large rodents to control, and the police frown on using similar methods regarding the two legged kind. ;)

Ah, we started out cleaning fuse clips and now we're into self-defense. My how we wander.

I wont get started on it but it ain't always safe "out there". I try to be WELL  prepared and pray it never happens. I've had occasion/s to point one but fortunately I haven't had to go past that. [And, it wasn't a .22!]

IMHO Bollingball has the plan.

Peace!
