Hard tail for a cb550?
« on: September 29, 2010, 05:37:28 PM »
Does anyone know of a company that makes a hardtail either bolt on or weld on for a CB550. i've got all sorts of plans in my head right now, and would like to take my very beaten up cb and make it into a chopper/bobber. and find a 750 for my "sport" bike.

the 500/550's dont seem to be popular in the hard tail area, generic might be the only way to go... if you have the welding skills, i've seen bits and pieces hard tail kits that would work.... i think it was evilbay. you could email the guys at cyclex too...

Tc bros make a universal hardtail kit. Give them a call they also have a hardtail service.

Thanks guys. I don't mind having to do the welding, just figured if I could find a bolt on, and i didn't like it, i could go back to the swingarm.

i was looking into doing it to one of my 550's awhile back. other than fabricating it yourself, the only option is the TCbros kit. however, i emailed them last winter and was told they were working on a weld-on for the 550. might want to check, in case they have it done. this was my friend's 550 hardtail in the photo.
