You got a great deal!  Excellant photo of your son on the bike, it should be his one day.
You are lucky, I bought my daughter a "starter" Honda 70, she had no interest in it [her loves are soccer & track].

Good Luck.

I have the rear grab bar off of my 500 still. I think it is in pretty good shape. Do you know if they are the same?

i dont think they are,  there should be 2 tabs on each side with an oval or rectangle hole for a rubber grommet to fit into.

take a pic and send it to me if you dont mind.

Things left to do:
1. Seat covered (have new cover but doesnt have the plastic lip for the pan)
2. decals for the side covers and tank
3. right side controls off the parts bike and onto mine
-what a bear the headlight was a mess in there, wires were double spliced with tape.  I took out all the crap and re soldered. All working great now.

4. charging prob is not a prob i think.  still reading up on testing the charging system, the headlight does glow brighter as the rpms go up.

BTW found two cb500's for 1000 (both)   heading out monday to get for winter project  :o  Bought one and sold next day made $150.00

Looks great. What kind of decals do you have in mind?

You sure you want pods? Can be a challenge to tune.

Shoot it runs pretty good right now with out anything filter so i figure ill try pods first. But it does have hesitation at 3/4.

No air filter?
