So I've been pestered for a Mosport update, and yesterday got some firm answers (in the rain
), from the VRRA guys @ Shannonville.
Clarington Honda (north side of 401, west off Waverly Rd.) has agreed to the use of their lot as the staging point for the ride into Mosport Saturday morning (head out 10:30AM?). The VRRA has agreed to do pre-register there. This will mean the group does not have to stop at the Mosport gate, just slow, and show your wrist band.
Having spoken with the Sales Manager @ Clarington, I will also be displaying my 550 there for a week or so with a poster. Also in speaking with a number of other dealers, there is generally a positive feeling to supporting the ride, by allowing a short term display. To this end, and because I have a trailer and two SOHC4 BOTM bikes to work with, I plan to hit up others besides Clarington & Classic. If any of you are willing to also display a bike for a short period, let me know.
At Mosport the VRRA will be reserving space in the lower
paved paddock for SOHC4 reserved parking & display. This will be either the north, or south side, closest to the road. Camping is available immediately behind on the grass area. Fires are allowed here, but must be attended. Washrooms are across the pavement, on the other side. Camping is available from Friday on, and the area will be designated, probably Thursday night. So for those coming from a distance, you can arrive Friday, and then ride down (20 min.?) to the meeting point Saturday AM. As I will have my trailer there, it can serve as secure storage. BBQ's & coolers will be required depending on how many, and as my truck will also be there, a food / beer run to Bowmanville is easily accomplished. Just need a shopping list.
As for a track tour, at this point the VRRA charges around $25 / bike, and only if scheduling allows. They have decided to do this because they feel the racers pay for the track time, and so should everyone else. Not sure I totally agree, but I do understand the logic. This is still a discussion point.
Honda Canada has basically shown little, no interest.
HedNut has agreed to do a quickie poster, VRRA's should be available in a couple of weeks. So you have a destination, and a time. Time for planning your rides there, and how you will group up, along the way.
