First thing we learned as teenagers with these bikes was to use 6 point sockets to remove oil filters. The second thing we learned was not to put them on so tight! :)

Once you do get it off, this sure makes it easy next time.

i have to second ekpents solution for those that run into this problem in the future.  11 mm 6 sided socket hammered over the gnarled head.  pretty sure he was the one that tipped me off to this a couple months back.  i have yet to order a replacement bolt as the socket is still firmly attached to the bolt head.

I’m having the same problem on my 81 CB 650.  I appreciate all the ideas of how to get the bolt out, but where does one order a new one?
