bike or car
« on: October 14, 2010, 03:56:15 PM »
when it comes to twisty winding roads
which would finish first
bike or car
as much as i would have to admit a car would take a hard turn better than a bike

This has been done by a bunch of major magazines over the years... Usually, on a race track, the bike edges out the car, just barely. Cars corner way faster, but not fast enough to overcome the power to weight advantage of a motorcycle.

The real question is, who has a bigger sh*t-eating grin on their face at the end of the road - the driver or the rider?  ;)

Depends on what car and bike. But if you are talking high performance of each, say a Ferrari and a 1000cc crotch rocket, the bike will win.
As said above, the car is the underdog because of the weight.

Wasn't there a video posted on this forum posted about a year ago showing a normal road going bike, a sports car and a race prepared bike having a 1 lap race around a track. The normal bike left first, than after acouple of minutes the car, and a couple of minutes after that the race bike. By the time the race bike left the sports car was more than ½ way around the track. But the Race bike overtook it in the last 50 metres and finished first. I don't remember what position the road bike arrived at the finish line.

A car can take the corners better but a bike can accelerate out of them faster.

What kind of shark and what's the starting situation?  If it's a great white and it starts far enough the croc would never see it coming.

Also I'm assuming this fight is in the water.  If they were both like on land in a boxing ring with gloves on and a gorilla ref, the croc would probably win by TKO when the shark suffocates.

i also watched something based on time trials and it was a duc vs ferrari and the duc won by like a hundreds of a second... the driver had a tough time keeping the front end down
but in the real world of a normal fast street car and a normal fast street bike... i think the bike would eat up the car

On a track with no sand or gravel on it, the bike may have an advantage.
But in the real world, where road conditions are not perfect, I think the car has the advantage.

I was told by one of the people who work at the deals gap store, that a car holds the speed record through the Dragons Tail.
Said the bike ran almost 9 minutes and the car was about 8 1/2 minutes.
They say all the real speed runs are done at night.

Top fuel dragster vs nascar- they calculate if the nascar stocker was going 200mph when it crossed the start line and it would trip the green, the top fueler would still pass the nascar before the 1/4 mile finish line.

I'm confused on the point you're trying to make with that video.
