A doodle leads to an idea
« on: October 18, 2010, 06:15:50 AM »
I was trying to tech my son how to use basic shapes to make an object, user perspective and shading. The doodle I came up with made me think this is what I want my FZR to eventually look like. Please no art critiques, this was just a quick unfinished sketch with some exaggerated shading.
I hope the png shows up

Nice. :)  Looks sort of like a modified 650GT.

Cool!   Run with it man!!!

PS... your pencil led circumvents right around the lower lateral division stroke....I would bi-axialate the inversion to correlate the vertical shading hatch strings.        ;D   (I'm messing around...just jibba-jabba... great doodle!!)

Someone on the fzrarchives.com posted a pic of his bike that looks very similar to what you sketched there.  I wasn't able to find it but I'm at work so can't spend much time looking.

How come you were teaching your son to draw on the computer instead of just physical pencil and paper?  or is that scanned?  Looks like you took the photoshop airbrush tool to it to shade.

His sketchbook is at school and the tablet has Alias sketchbook Pro on it. So, I used what was handy. Also all we have at home is 2H pencils YUCK.

I'll ckeck FZRarchive, and FZRonline galleries. Basically It would be a 95 YZF tank, GSXR forks and tires, sort of a TZ250 seat, and 7 inch headlight.

I don't think it was in a gallery.  He just joined the forum and posted some pictures.  Now they're somewhere back in history and I don't remember what section it was under.  He took the fairings off, mounted a single headlight, did a custom tail and painted the whole thing a light blue-ish gray.  The tail is a bit pointed as usual but the top was horizontal and lined up with the top of the tank.  I'm not a fan of tail mods on the FZR in general as the old blocky look on a faired bike is a large part of why I like the FZR but I liked the way his looked.  I don't remember what he had for actual performance mods.
