I recently moved to Oroville (north of Sacramento) and am loving riding the roads here.  I have already been up I70 along the feather river to quincy and beyond.  That is a really gorgeous ride.  on the way back we stopped at a place on the side of I70 called SCOOTERS.  IT is a burger joint/ biker hangout.  Anyone familiar with it?

Also, rode up to Shasta Mountain which was a nice ride.  I5 gets all twisty up through the mountains.

I've been wanting to cut across to the coast and check out fort Bragg and head up north to the giant sequoia's.  I've been there in my truck, but want to expereince it on the bike.

I have had my cb750k2 for about a year and a half now (it is my first bike) and I am really loving it.  I took it on a trip to visit my parents in Los Angeles from Sedodna, AZ.. that was my first long tirp wiht it.  My friend Rhonda and I took it don't to Puerto Penasco ini MExico shortly after the rebuild.  That was a great trip as well.

I have only been riding with a group once and enjoyed the camraaderie.  I love riding alone through the ountryside as well, though.

I have put about 15000 miles on the bike so far.  Had it bored out to 836cc a few months ago and my mechanic recommended I upgrade my carbs to the ones he uses on his drag bike..  31mm keihns(sp?) from a mid 80's cb650sc nighthawk...  I found some on ebay in great shape for $41! Their not an exact fit to the cb750k2 but they are close enough that he was able to make it work and I love the quick throttle response.

My current issue is that when travelling at highway speeds when the wind hits the bike at a certain angle I lose power and have to spread my legs a bit to restore it :D  I can't use a stock airbox witht he new carbs, so I am thinking about trying one of the chrome boxes I see on ebay from time to time to see if that will cure it.

Anyway, it owuld be great to get togther wiht some sohc4 folks sometime.

Adam

Hey Adam, I'm a bit south of you (Modesto) but it is a pretty long putt just for the afternoon. If I were ever to go for a weekender though I wouldn't mind looking you up.I drove a big rig through the Feather River canyon back in the late 70's and it was a beautiful drive (imagine its an even better putt!) I'll tell you another good one is from Redding up to Mt.Lassen.Once you get up past atown called Shingle Springs it is real nice.I took my old Kawi 1000 and went with a buddy on a Honda 750. Part way up,we swapped bikes and it was really just a great riding memory of mine. There are plenty of good roads in Northern Calif. though and you are quite a bit closer to them than me.I have a buddy out in San Jose that just bought a brand new Harley Heritage Softtail and he wants to go riding.Until I get mine ready for a bit of a long haul and he gets more used to long rides we will probably stay farther south than where you are.Maybe catch ya' out there somewhere.....MRBREEZE

Hey there Mrbreeze,

I checked out the map. You look like your 2 1/2 hours to the south of me.

If you are ever up for a ride, I am game to head down south to meet you.

Been itchin' to just take off and ride somewhere!

I just put a new headlight on the bike and it was sooooo nice riding last night with it.  been thinking about installing a couple extra driving lights, but I am happy enough with new head light that I think I will leave things alone for now.

Adam...I live just outside of Chico in Forest Ranch. I just picked up a 1980 CB650C today on Craigslist. It was free and needs some work. I have 12 other Honda bikes and ATV's all singles, so I think I will have this one up and running just about in time for spring when the rain stops. I would like to go riding sometime I will let you know when it's on the road.

Hey guys,
Im up north in Humboldt County. I just bought my first bike a couple o weeks ago ('71 CB500). It needs some work but I expect to have it ready to go by this summer. I guess I am in the extremely Northern part of California.

Hey muletrain, welcome to the club. You jumped into an old post but there are still some members over your way I think. I have been gone awhile and I am now back. I am pretty sure Adam has bugged out....last word was he moved to Eureka and had his bike stolen. I met him and his girlfriend at our Berkeley meet back in 2006 along with a few other bay area members. Look for Scondon (Sean),Joeb,Lee (from Santa Rosa) 2Tired (Lloyd),Canyon 750 (Wayne), Dusthawk (Jeff) and even the the boss man......Glenn Stauffer. If you ever get out to the Angels Camp area (Calaveras County)...give me a shout.

An old thread but I'm glad someone brought it back up -I live in Chico and ride a '75 550k. I'm always seeing sohcs around here but I never seem to meet their owners - they're usually on the other side of the road. I always wave.
That's like hypnotizing chickens...
