cb500 carb jet question
« on: November 21, 2010, 05:25:52 PM »
just picked up a 72 cb500f, its completely stock except for a set of kerker 4-1 pipes.  WOuld these require the carbs to be rejetted?  If so any clues as to what size?

Thanks

I don't believe there's such a model as 500F. If it's '72 it would be a K1.
As far as jetting goes, how long have the pipes been on there & how does it run?
There may not be any need to go up in mains at all, but you could try going up in stages of .05mm if you think it's too lean. Maybe it has already been rejetted?

Enjoy your new ride.  ;)

Cheers.

if youve just picked it up is it in good condition or not run for quite a while?start by going right over the ignition before you tinker with the carbs,go to the faq section and look at points setting.
