Does this look safe to you?
« on: November 30, 2010, 06:17:03 PM »
I know it's not a SOHC, but I simply had to ask: does this look safe to you?
It took 10 years but she's finally done!

No.
The stock air filtration system has had some changes made to it.

Many squirrels and small children's lives are obviously at risk  :D

Provided that's gasoline, I'd say "no".
This project started in confusion and will end in disarray.

Safety aside, fluids don't typically like to flow uphill.

the engine only fires under severe braking, so you'd be good to go with that set up.  ;D

Sometimes you've gotta know if a bike runs and the only way is a makeshift tank.

That setup may or may not work.  Before I made my good temp tanks, I tested my engine by simply sitting the fuel lines inside of an open gas can!  My theory was that the engine would suck gas into the carbs as it needed it.   ::)  It was really touchy, but as a matter of fact it worked.  I don't know if I was right or if it was pure magic; I just know that it ran!

"bladder tank" commonly used on aircraft.  This is an example of natural selection at work.

Safe?
Hardly. Running without a front fender is extremely dangerous. Oh sure, it looks cool, but the first time he rides over a little patch of gravel he won't care how it looks.

I don't think he means the missing front fender ::). He's obviously referring to the lack of a speedo. Hey, is that a 40 of Old English in the cup holder?

We are all missing the big picture here.  I believe motorcycles in general here are in question.  Are motorcycles inherently safe?

The answer:  Yes.

What is not safe and most often injures would-be riders are:
1) Pavement
2) Cars
3) Trees
4) Gasoline (see applicable picture above)

Those are custom tanks by some builder named Molatov.
