So first of all, I would like to say thanks to everybody who participates and shares their knowledge and experiences, whether good or bad, on this forum... I have spent countless hours browsing and searching (yes I know how to use the search function
) this forum and it has pretty much given me all the know how to get my bike this far. So I started my project in August 2010 after acquiring a bike from my buddy, I primed his car, he gave me a bike. You know the one that supposedly runs, "I just haven't driven it in two years, but its a dependable bike man"
. So anyway check out the picks and voice your opinions
. My objective was to build a bobber while not putting to big a dent in my wallet. The only special tools I used, was a Flux core wire welder from Northern, 4 1/2 inch angle grinder for HF, and a Drill, no Jigs or fancy sh!t just a cinder block an angle finder and some cheap a$$ welding clamps. I've ridden only about 25 miles on it since I didn't have a tag and I only had a rigged up taillight. Everybody that looks at it swears that I used a jig because they can't see any kind of tire lean or whatever the hell their trying to find. Anyway looks at the pics and voice you opinions please !!!! And again I would have to say THANKS to all you guys, I learned a lot more here than I did from the annoying neighbors that stop buy and voice their opinions about how to weld something or what a bobber is supposed to look like when they don't know diddly squat.
The bike was in okay condition when I got it, not the worst I've seen, it started right up after cleaning an rebuilding the carbs.
Frame cut and getting the TC Bros kit tacked in.
All the rails and axle plates spotted in.
My first seat idea utilizing one of the original rear shocks, was very comfy but, I'm very tall and needed my seated further back so when the spring compressed the bottom of my seat would hit the fender. I actually got a few rides with how it looks now, man it was fun. Got the idea of bolts for footpegs on the forward controls from someone, somewhere on this forum, can't remember where or who but big thanks to whoever it was.
Don't laugh at my light, I've already covered that myself
but I really wanted to ride bad, so I borrowed the light from my 400 ex and welded a tacked on a couple of tabs, and off I went, no tag, no signal lights, no mirrors, headlight not even wired, man that was a great feeling
...
And well here she be as of today. I still have to get exhaust wrap, angled exhaust tips to keep the heat off my arse. fork seals, a new front tire, and wire it in, then comes the long wait for the next Tennessee spring it was 20 degrees today when I took the pics
