Just wondering, glad to here it missed you.  From the reports over here it sounded very nasty.

With all the water you guys have been getting, maybe boat building would be a more useful. ;)

I'm still gathering NOS parts for my rebuild :'(...just found the 1-year-only loom for hundred bucks tho!  What year is the frame?

ive got a couple of old taps,ill have a fiddle and see what ones are best,check the david silvers site and work out what you need then use the currency converter,you can send them an email asking for a quote on freight to your door,the new tap works out about 35 aussie dollars,heres a link or two.

ok,got the headlight ear rubbers,front is on,ill fit the motor this weekend or earlier if i get a halfday at work,got the front guard and caliper mount on,mock up head light and speedo.

standard type one carbs with stock airbox greggo,i like them easy to tune /run and idle,itll have a four to one exhaust,itll be running a boyer ignition,this is a basic clean and make it shiny job,no mods,ive deleted the tank badges as the mounting area was too damaged,the repro side covers come undrilled for badges,ill leave it un-identified,those taps are ok jpd748 but id just buy new by the time you add frieght,

got a bit done today,front brake fitted and bled,motor in,carbs /plenum/battery holder,i found out that on both 550 motors i have the area on the gear shift side,where the long foot peg/engine bolt goes through a po has machined about ten mill from the boss that should butt up to the frame,these engines had been used in go karts of some type so i guess its a custom fit modification,i never spotted it untill i went to bolt it all up,its a bit obvious now,i just shimmed up the gap with stainless washers,i couldnt find any barbed wire!

Looks great Dave. Not to throw a wrench in the spokes though, check sprocket alignment after you add the spacers on that engine mount.

yeah cool thanks bwaller,any advice or saftey pointers are allways welcome,it all lines up fine,that was my first thoughts aswell,(what?me worry?),the spacer on the foot brake side is in place and the area it butts up to isnt tamperd with so its squared up as factory fitted,just has the case machined away on the left side,ive spun and spun with the new chain on and my evil eye tells me its all good,ill use a solid spacer and remove the five washers i had to use for now once im running.

fiddled about putting on the throttle cables today,and the grips and switches,draped the new loom on,its still mock up in a few ways,i want to buy a few new stainless bolts etc for the alternator and left cover,the chains cut and on,i rode over the mountain to see the old fella i bought this frame from to get the forward little right angle bracket that holds the airbox on,he didnt have one,once i got home and tinkered about more i realised i need the heavy rear brake return spring,i rang him and he has a couple,oh well another ride over the mountain next weekend.

had to move the project uphill to put my car in the garage now its back from painting,it looked too hard to push so with a plastic fuel bottle,simple run the engine only wiring and no seat or clutch cable i rode it up to my other work area,im keen to get all the electrics done now,this is my first attempt at posting a short video.

thanks tintop,its a pretty steep and long hill,we get youths dressed in full leathers and helmets on these real long skate boards sometimes going down it,the cops came once and stopped them,car pics are here.

electrics are sorted,waiting on a clutch cable and rear brake pedal return spring,the bloke i got the roller from didnt have one,we both went through all his bits and pieces and couldnt find one,the muffler will be an automotive circular straight through,these get over looked as not really being any good when in fact they are as good as any name brand bike thing youll buy!looks aside that is,washer the outlet down to about 35 mm,speedway outfits have used these for years,i like the oval ones,a little less raspy.

thanks fellas,i just sort of work with what i have without doing any real modifications,then again if this frame had of been cafed so be it,its just a cleaned up and ridable bike,ill pm you mick on that tail pipe,its nearly finished,still doing the idiot lights,i want to fit a volt meter where the tacho should be more or less,i put the lower stay bar on today,i might leave the top one off?i have new mirrors here,its the bike with no name or insignia.
