CB400F Intake Manifolds
« on: December 18, 2010, 10:08:06 AM »
I'm looking to use CB400F intake manifolds with a custom adapter to mount soem Keihin CR26 carbs to me CB550F.

It seems that there are inside and outside manifolds for the CB400F and I was wondering what the difference between them is. Can someone post pistures of their manfolds for me. A side photo showing any angle to the manifolds would be very helpful too.

I was just looking for the CB440F parts manual and found that the file has been deleted on the download server.
If someone hase a copy of new link to download the parts manual, please post it here.

Thanks

OK

I found the pictures of both the inside two and outer two manifolds but can't see any difference at all.

Can someone measure the inside bore and post it here?

Thanks
jimmy

Inside bore on motor side is around 23mm.
The manifolds are marked 1-4 and 2-3. 1 and 4 have the same angle and 2 and 3 the same angle.
number 1 fits with the 1 showing, and number 4 fits with the 4 showing, basically upside down to number one. same applies to 2 and 3 manifolds.

If you bore them out larger, you might loose the O-ring groove. I have gaskets to fit if you need them.

Kevin

Thanks for the specifications Kevin.
I need to open those up to 26mm so I had better consider something else.

Much appreciated.

I've got a 400F apart at the moment and you can have those manifolds to experiment if it helps.

Thanks Brent

I'm gonna hack around the garage later tonight and see what gives.
Will let you know if I need to borrow them though.

Could you tell me what thread diameter the CB440F uses on the throttle cables at the grip?

Cheers

You can open up the 400F manifolds to 26mm. will have to use gaskets instead of the O-rings to seal.

Forgot to mention.

I use the VFR/RVF400 throttle housing with my CR's. used with the stock 400f cables.

Kevin

Maybe the CB400F manifolds are the way to go then.
If I where to make a flat plate adapter to mount the to would I need both types or would either do?

I guess I'll need 400 cables too.

Thanks for all ther help guys
