Alright I got the days (plus a couple extra) off work for the ride. Now it's all about making sure I get these last few little things taken care of on my bike by the 26th.

I'm assuming the Ann Arbor stop will be the same day? Had hoped to join in for a short portion of the ride to Hell, but just found out I need some surgery on my right shoulder (7/15) soooo, I think my riding season is either over as of then or curtailed until fall at best.  :'( Might still meet for the stop here, sling and all.  ;)
We'll all be someone else's PO some day.

That sux Bob!!  The important thing is meeting each other and building relations in the REAL world too. Godzilla is just a gimmick to make it happen.

I'd be proud to ride into Hell with ya Bob, no matter how many wheels it takes!

PS even if ya just sit on a bike and have someone push ya, as long as the rear wheel makes 1 full revolution, then you have officially rode with GZ!!

bob trips on the bike :o :o hope i can join up with you guys a bit four your tour of michigan. love that state, just no the gas prices
Gas, yeah, but howabout motorcycle insurance? I currently license and insure 3 bikes and it costs me almost $700. I can only ride one at a time...so why is PLPD insurance charged per machine anyway? You can only drive one vehicle at at time and you still pay to have the other two sitting in the garage, harming no one.

My actual insurance rate for 3 bikes is $288--not bad really and not much more than it used to be 20 years ago. But our beloved State of Michigan gets $374 for something called "MCCA Assessment Recoupment". That, my friends is punitive and unfair taxation.  >:(

Okay, I'm done. Thanks for indulging my rant.

I knew I saw a post in this forum about MCCA (Michigan Catastrophic Claims Assessment) which is currently $143 per vehicle.  I also registered 3 bikes this year, and flipped out at the cost.  Not sure this is the best spot for this post, but there is good news to share.  You can save 80% of that assessment if you register your bike with an Authentic or Historic Plate in Michigan.

The only requirements are that the bike is 26 or more years old, and that it is not for routine transportation.  What is routine transportation?  I’ll let you know when I get pulled over, but in my opinion there is nothing about riding a 40 year old motorcycle that is routine.

An Authentic Plate Registration costs $35 and is good for the life of the bike (No more checks to SOS), and the Historic Plate is $30 and lasts 10 years.  Either one makes you eligible for the 80% MCCA discount.  I tried to attach the form from the Secretary of State, but it is 1.4MB so you will have to check this website http://www.michigan.gov/sos/0,1607,7-127-1585_11459---,00.html#3 and scroll down to the Historical Plate form.

This is by no means an advertisement and I am not associated with this website, but Authentic Plates can be found at www.MadMaxsAuthenticPlates.com (somewhere near Hell, MI).  I got two plates from him for about $50 total and then paid the $70 to Authentic Plate Register 2 bikes with the State.

No more registration renewals and 80% off the MCCA for the rest of their lives, works for me.  Hope this is helpful to some of you.  You’ll also need to inform your insurance agent of this change to get the insurance discounted.

BTW, I have an extra 1974 MI cycle plate that came on my 1972 Triumph Daytona that was rescued from a barn in Ann Arbor.  If anyone is interested in it send me a PM.  I too would be interested in a ’66 or another ’72 plate as well.

Ammunition for all who feel over taxed.  See ya soon

Not sure yet Dave, there is construction in the area.  Prolly know a week ahead of time if it's at the tire or at another location.

EDIT:  Kevin D is keeping an eye on it.  Alternate location would be the abandoned Michigan Central station.

That too bad Bob.  Maybe you could ride as a passenger on somebody else bike.  I should have some room on my bike.  Or how about driving a chase vehicle?  I don't know if we have anyone doing that.

I hope u find it Chief!  It's either up on top of the head (look around under the tapper covers) or may have been washed to the sump (drop the oil pan). Worst case would be to pull the valve cover. I'm hoping it's a 550 cuz a 750 would require an engine removal!

Its a 750. I have a gordon frame kit that needs to be installed anyways if the cover needs to come off. Maybe ill get lucky and ill find it in the head. Found the two pieces of the tappet that went flying. One is out. Haven't had the time to get the second piece out. Located it. Just hard to get. Thinking small magnet on wire to fish it out. I have no ideer how long the nut has been off. Hopefully it hoodinied with the tappet the other day. I WILL ride with team michibili....... I mean michigan

I'd Like To Add ALL the "UNOFFICIAL" Riders To the Master Rider List
« Reply #293 on: July 10, 2011, 06:25:11 PM »
Gentlemen, Ladies, Riders, Team Leaders,

Somewhere along the line we have had numerous riders wanting to join in or actually join in the Relay without notifying me, the Grand Poobah, of such desire. I have requested numerous times that these participants please notify me with their information. I would like to make our master rider list as large and complete as possible. I promise I won't charge you an admission fee or participation fee other than the large smiles this Relay and Godzilla ellicit from you. That is what this is all about!

Sooooo, with this in mind PLEASE send me a PM of your information or anyone you know that has not "registered" for this amazing event. The master rider list is located at http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=81240.0. Please take a look at it and let me know if you are NOT on this list! I'd like your name, city of residence and which Team you wish to participate with.

Thank you for you cooperation.

I will be doing the handoff in Detroit, it looks like, or at least will be one of 2 or 3 people. I'm not getting prompt responses in The Canada thread, but I assume not everyone is an internet junkie like me. 23rd at noon should be no problem, my question is will you/we/whoever picks it up in Detroit turn around same day and head west, through Hell? I an meeting a friend there, and need to coordinate a meet time and date.

Hey Tripps!

Yes, after Hell, GZ will ride on to Kalamazoo that night for a few days rest. He'll start rolling again on the 27th heading North on his way to the handoff to Team Northern on the 30'th.

Hello Team Michigan

Glad to here of the Rally Across America, Canada and Beyond. Count me in. I will join you at the bridge or tunnel or Baker College or the Big Tire. Just put the info out there. Ready to ride. I am planning on going as far as Kalamazoo. Not enough time to schedule vacation. Hopefully next year.

Proud Rider of a 76 CB 750F.

Glad to have ya aboard, Art!  Please send a private message to Jerry RXman, the Grand Poohba Coordinator of the relay so he can get you on the list.  Then stay tuned to this thread for last minute changes.

As of now, we're planning to meet Team Ontario at the Big Tire behind Baker Collage at noon on the 23rd.  If we can't get to the tire, then we'll meet at the Michigan Central building for an "Abandoned" photo op.  From there, we ride to Hell (love say'n that!!) then on to Kazoo.  There are a few places to flop in Kazoo.  Possible back yard camping too.
