I live close to Greensburg PA  - I would love to make the Greensburg to Hancock, MD leg.   Who is coordinating the Greensburg to MD trip?

Could all the NYC riders who are interested in any involvement with the rally email me off-forum, so we can get a cohesive plan going for our leg?

This thread is getting long, and it will be good to touch base directly to avoid confusion.

I have started a new thread for routing purposes. As Scott says this thread is becoming too large and cumbersome. You will find a rough map on the new thread. Please just state where you want to join the route or receive a hand off. Please PM riders in your area to work out the details. I will update the map and we can tweak the map. Thanks for your stepping up to participate.

The new thread is here:  http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=88054.msg989662#msg989662

Hi 05c50  - got your pm.  Will call soon.

I'm also "FutureBoy" from NGW.

What are your thoughts on the route to Hancock?   Highways or back roads?

How about Rt 30 east from Greensburg  (Rt 130 east would be more fun - then pick up Rt 30E just east of Latrobe. Take Rt 26S  - Rt 484 W - Rt 522 S to Hancock.

Clutch, you're reading my mind. That's the route I have planned. I hope to stop at the Flight 93 Memorial for a few photos. Hope you can join me.

We can do this!  Who are we missing?  All we really need is a confirmation of the Philly to NYC leg, no?

That is all we need is a solid route from Philly to NYC and we are good to go. Team New England is requesting a new hand off at the Vintage Bike Show at Rhinebeck NY. Really a great show and great scenery and roads.

The only thing I've seen as far as dates for a rhinebeck moto show is June 10.  Is that the one?

Scott, it runs the whole weekend. It is a nice Town, lots of places to eat, drink  etc. The roads going there are pretty nice and mellow. It is probably a better location than Woodstock. This will also give us some wiggle room to allow people in interesting cities to do some creative stuff with Godxzilla.
Since the show is all vintage bikes, we would probably be better accepted there than some Harley choked venue.

I think it would be great - I just didn't know if it was cool to delay the movement that long.  But if Team NE are the ones requesting it, I guess that's on them.  It certainly allows for a more relaxed time frame in the NYC area, and Philly (and possibly DC) as well.

Scott, there is a whole lot of flooding and maybe more to come in the heartland and the South. Things may slow down a bit. These storms never seem to end.

AndyCB750 the Coordinator for Team New England have been corresponding and we have decided to move the location and the date of the handoff from Woodstock to Rhinebeck NY.  Woodstock and Rhineback are about 30 minutes apart so Woodstock could be done also if that is the team's wish.

On June 11 there will be the Rhinebeck Vintage Bike show. Last year Andy and some of the Boston crew met up there and had a great time. It is a good venue for a Vintage Bike event like ours. People would appreciate what we are doing better than some Harley centric area. The VJMC has a large display there. In Woodstock we would probably be handing off to Andy, in Rhinebeck we will have a larger group. It is a great Town with lot's restaurants and Pubs.

Of course you will notice that we have moved the date of the handoff back. The fact of the matter is this is not an iron butt event, it is a fun event.

Our region is comprised of some of the most densely populated areas in the Country and to work routes that are both fun and reasonably safe in this region is a challenge. We do not have the wide open major roads that are comfortable to ride on. We have congested major Interstates. So we have to always take longer secondary roads that wind around through lovely scenery, but add time and miles to the trip. In some cases I have plotted routes that were in excess of 1000 miles, so we are in no way a short leg of this Rally.

We have riders located in these major cities that would like to take some interesting and creative pictures of GZ in places like Washington DC, Philadelphia, and NYC.  This date change gives us flexibility to do things like a Billy Joel stop.

Please continue to communicate with riders in your local area, plot out routes and meet ups and let's have some fun and be as safe as we can.

We need to be ready to get our hand off from at Hancock when they are ready.

Team Central will be taking the handoff in four days and begin moving toward us. We need to make final handoff arrangements, I will monitor their progress and report, we need to have a rock solid pickup.
