From the centre of the stem to the centre of the fork tube top, if you look at the top clamp from a stocker it will be around 60mm yours will be around 20-25mm, my gsxr clamps are offset 25mm so i am having new clamps made up at 50mm, same as the 750 F.
If you draw a straight line across the top of both fork tops from centre to centre, then measure the distance from this line to the centre of the steering neck it will give you the offset, changing this measurement changes you trail numbers, which will alter the way the bike steers or turns in to a corner. There is a lot more to handling than just sticking any swingarm and forks on a bike.

Is it OK to ask how much that kind of work costs? I don't need it for my CB, I'm just curious.

To be honest, something I would really like to have on a bike someday is a set of sheetmetal triple clamps like this:

Looks like those clamps would be very strong although i might add some webbing inside to make sure there was no twist, To have some made from aluminium would be anywhere from $500 up, depending where you got them made. Machinists here {in Australia} seem to charge like a wounded bull so i will probably get some made up in the states....If i had a mill i would make them myself. 40mm offset isn't too bad, it is slightly under an inch less than stock and should be ok, just check clearance at the tank when on full lock.

No worries. I see a lot of guys, even on here, that really have no understanding of suspension and frame geometry, some things are just plain dangerous. I was never trying to discourage you at all, just hoped you might learn something useful about your bike.....

You will probably have some more questions now but that is a good thing, you can never have enough knowledge....

It's hard to imagine that they would be, just looking at them - but the guy who designed and built them did a ton of engineering and testing on frames before and after he augmented them with gusseting & bracing - set up a rig that would let him apply various twisting and bending forces to the frame to measure deflection, etc. So I assume that a similar level of care went into the triples.

ordered some exhaust wrap at a killer deal. 100ft for $42 got the seat under primer, gonna spray it in the morning

honda was level with the tank....not the ground so it looked like it was going uphill

got my new mr.t gold chain put on rolled it a round the drive and it was clicking like hell in the engine, took the clutch out and it stopped? any ideas?
