Looking at a bike tomorrow...
« on: January 03, 2011, 06:31:53 PM »
Trying not to jinx it.  Story is he had it running and took the engine apart to address an oil leak.  He snapped a cylinder head stud and gave up on it.  Has a title.  Trying to get there tomorrow.  The rest if the bike ended up in boxes somehow too..

My bike came in boxes, the PO had removed the engine because it had an annoying oil leak, I thought I'd run it just to see how it performed before tearing it down.
Then I did something the PO never thought of....I gave it a new oil filter and some clean oil, has not leaked a drop since (2 years) and just been out on motorway at 80 mph, engine sweet as a nut, sometimes we get a bargain. ;)
I think the thing I most like about motorcycling is the speed at which my brain must process information at to avoid the numb skulls who are eating pies, playing the ukulele, applying make-up etc in the comfort of their airconditioned armchairs as they make random attempts to kill me!!!!!!!

Sounds like it could be a good deal! The asking price is reasonable enough! For my area anyway.

So, the strategy is to lie to people you are asking for help?

I think I'll be busy going for a ride.

Good luck!

I've had a Suzuki TC90 and a Suzuki CT90, the TC was a trail bike with high and low ratios, the CT was a basic sort of road commuter bike. :)

Failure!  So I get there and there really isn't much to recommend this bike other than the fact he had a title for it.  A lot of rust and not all in boxes like I had been led to believe (so I couldn't put it in my van).  I asked him if he had any offers and he said a guy offered him $100 for it.  I said, "Ok, I'll go $140 but I need to come back for it."  Just as I'm about to give this guy $40 to hold it, his phone rings.  Some other guy wants to look at it.  I said, "ok, just let me know what his offer is and call me back."  He offered $150 and this guy was still there when he called me.  I was like "$10?"  I said "ok, $160" and he's talking to the other guy while I'm there on the phone.  I grew tired quickly of this live auction format and told him to just let the guy have it.  The money would probably be better spent on my 550 anyway...
