There are too many posts to find the fix so here it goes. Pretty straight forward, when removing pad B fron caliper B (cotter pin side), the pad split in half and now the half that is recessed in the caliper is stuck. What should I do? It is soaking pad side down in brake cleaner as we speak. 76 cb750f.

Just to clarify the metal backing of the pad is stuck in the caliper. the braking material seperated and left it behind.

have you seperated the calipers(?) and tryed to access the part that way? i would try to press the caliper as far back as i could( via somekind of clamp or vise)... just be patient maybe if it loosens just a little you could get it to start to rotate and shake some debris clear and get it out

Calipers and all are diassembled. The problem is on the side of the stationary caliper/pad (wheel side) so there is no moving anything anywhere. The backing of the brake pad is stuck in the caliper.

maybe dremel a slot in it and give it some heat and smack it to try to loosen the corrosion on it

You might try drilling a hole through the steel backing and taping it. Then, threading a bolt into the tapped hole "might" push the backing plate away from the caliper half, or at least give you something to attach an improvised "puller" to. Good luck!

try and rap the edge to jar the backing plate out,it might have been siliconed in to stop squealing?or a thin blade and try and lever it a little enough to get a small screw driver under it?

I have tried chisels and screwdrivers. Only thing left is heat it over the stove I guess.

Must be stuck in their good because I had that happen with a 550 caliper. That one was cocked in there because someone omitted the little plastic washer spacer thing when reassembling. Even then it came out. After walking my bike home on a country two lane with the caliper dragging. Uphill. At night. In Transylvania.

Seriously, you need to apply some sort of force to get the backing out. I would drill/tap, as I already suggested, or weld a bolt to the plate, and then pull against that.

Or failing that, drill a small hole and run an EZOut in there, it should start to dig in a bit and give you something to pull with

How about leaving it in the freezer overnight?
Works for other bits of our bikes, the plate is metal and the caliper bit is an alloy isn't it?
