Absolutely!  This relay is intended to be SAFE, fun and a way to get to know our fellow SOHC'ers.  This isn't a re-enactment of the Pony Express!  At this point, we really need to look at what we can realistically do and plan the right number of days to do it.  Since we're in the latter third of the relay, we have the luxury of waiting a bit to publish our schedule.  But once we do publish dates and regions downstream start to plan on us hitting our marks, we'll need to do whatever we can to do exactly that.

What say we build in the stop in Edmunston.  That way you have a little schedule fluff if you need to change your launch date due to weather.  I'm also thinking that once we get a handoff date from Team New England that we may wana build in a few hold days at your house just in case.  That way we can publish reliable numbers without anyone incurring a large hotel bill.

[/quote]

I agree with the stop in Edmunston, and I will be travelling the Trans Canada Hwy the whole way in to Quebec City.
As far a hold days at my place, that works for me, and if the Team New England guys want to gypsy it up in my yard before they head back, they are welcome to it. I think at this point we are all just waiting on dates.

I can't be an official rider as I'm not on a SOHC (CX500) but I would love to tag along for a stretch. I'll keep my eyes open and won't offer much input but once you guys decide on an official route I will speak up (looking at the portion north east of Toronto)

That would be great, my78k.  So far our preliminary plan has Boner, Cookindaddy & myself  meeting up with Strawhouse to pick up 'Zilla in Brechin when he gets there, then head south down Lakeridge Rd. (right in your neck of the woods)  You can join any or all of us wherever you like.

The closest firm date we have so far is Team Central Rockies to Team Central handoff in Topeka, KS on 5/15.  Godzilla will need to ride with Team Central, Team Mid Atlantic and Team New England to get to New Brunswick.

Definitly stay tuned!!

Keith,

You're included but we DO need more riders in your area. What can you and others do to incorporate youselves into the Rally? That's the main point as it is up to you guys. I know Bruce will be glad to have you included.

Hey Keith!

We been yelling for riders from the Maritimes!  Glad ya finally heard us!  One of the original maps took IT to Nova Scotia then to Newfie and even PEI.  But when it came time for riders for those provinces to commit, we heard nothing.

So here's the situation.  Operator is in Fredricton.  He has volunteered to ride either to Nova Scotia OR to Quebec City.  If he heads to NS to hand IT off to you, can you (or others) then get it to QC?  Can you beat the bushes to see if there are other riders in the Maritimes that want in on this?

What if you were to do the handoff with Team New England, ran around NS, NL and/or PEI and get IT back to Operator in Fredricton who could then take it to Quebec city?

You could also ride with Operator to meet Team New England and ride back to Fredricton and we'll catch NS, NL and PEI in 2012.

Time is short, but there is still a chance to "pick up the spare" and include the Maritimes!

Hope we can figure out how to get you in on this Keith!

Any idea of a time line when it is expected to reach up around these parts?
There is a vintage bike club runs out of Halifax,  Atlantic Vintage Motorcycle Society.  https://anna.nscad.ns.ca/avms/
They might be of some help with riders as well, for they're some 750's in that group.
For me to get to Quebec City would be quite a haul, about 1300km one way.
Fredericton is around 600km one way for me.
Will check the motorcycle society for interest and let you know of interest.
Most importantly is knowing when to tell people that it would be happening for them so if you could get that info to me that would get things moving.
regards Keith

Thanks Keith,

I really appreciate you helping out with scaring up some riders!  No firm dates yet, but I'm guessing late June to mid-July.  Here is a link to a thread with an attached PDF file that has schedule and Real Time (sorta) Zilla tracking data:

http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=86686.0

Besides riding safe and having fun, the only rule we have for the relay is that Zilla has to travel on a SOHC4 Honda the entire time.  Any bike, any year, any maker or model can ride along, but the carrier must be a SOHC/4.

We have about 2 maybe 3 weeks to get the route finalized!

Well I think 49 meets 12 a little ways south of Brechin, where we talked about meeting, but that's cool, we can meet up at the locks at Gamebridge (30 seconds N of the 12/48 intersection), a beautiful spot.

Not as yet, wrote to the AVMS president: Bruce Goldsmith as well as the newsletter editor; Carl Hartzman, but have not heard anything back sadly.
The society themselves have weekend rides that they do throughout the summer to various parts of NS, so maybe the thrill of another is lost on them...

Thanks for bird dogging this Keith.  We still have time before the final route needs to get finalized.  I'm hoping for a positive response!  I'll check back with you next weekend.  If you hear anything before then, let me know!!

Welcome to the ride, Dvalcourt!  We have at least one rider coming from New Brunswick for an overnight stay near Quebec City.  Then the ride will go from QC to Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto and Detroit.  The very first post of this thread has a map for planning purposes.  Feel free to jump in at any point.  Ride as much or as little as you care too!

Stay tuned for dates.  Should have them in a few weeks.
