emblem removal bmw car
« on: January 06, 2011, 09:53:11 AM »
The PO on my Z3 used some kind of glue or sealer to attach the emblems on the side of the hood. These are in a recess and hard to get to the edges.  Tried prying them out but I am afraid I will damage the paint.  Any  suggestions?

If Hot Melt Glue was used, a little denatured alcohol is best! Just a slight lifting of one edge after applying the alcohol and the object will pop off with no residue. But use only DENATURED ALCOHOL...

I used 2 different methods on my '07 Charger. On the huge Dealer badge on the trunk lid, I used the heat gun and started pulling it away from the trunk lid, as the adhesive got warm enough. Then, when I removed the door molding, I just went along the top edge of the molding squirting some of that Goo Gone on the top side of the molding and going along the lower edge of the molding with a rag, to catch any Goo Gone that came on through. In both cases though, I used the Goo Gone to clean up the area AFTER the Badge and the molding was gone.  That video was very informative too.
