I may have wasted my money - Tank Cleaner
« on: January 06, 2011, 06:56:56 PM »
While building a car (in the avatar), I purchased POR-15 from Eastwood. when reading threads about POR-15 here, I was under the impression that its the same product that Eastwood offers. Well, I think I was wrong. I paid ~$45 for this kit.

Has anyone experience with this product?

Perhaps they labeled it under their own brand name?  The actual tank liner that came with my POR-15 kit had "American Standard" on it as the brand name..

*edit*  sorry, that was "US Standard..."

Kouros

Enjoyed antique cars for many years (but no longer). I never bought from Eastwood but had many of their catalogs. It appeared to me they had some good (sometimes great) products but may have been a bit on the expensive side. Must be pretty good folks - they have "been there" a long time. The antique car guys will "weed you out" if you jerk 'em around - bad news travels fast in their ranks.

They may have POR 15 as a "branded product" with their own label [?].

Never used POR 15. I always got my tank sealer from an Aircraft Hanger - cheap price and excellent product.

**Is your Cobra an original or a kit? 427 or other? Rare, fantastic cars in either form. Sure looks GREAT in that all too small pic!! More pics and some details?

The Cobra! A "Factory Five Racing" replica. IMO the best option if you want to build your own like I did. Yes fast too. No power brakes, not even brake booster, no power steering, 3 link straight axle. Ford Motorsport Racing 351 stroked to 392, Tremec Racing  transmission, 1920Lbs., 50/50 balanced car, tail-end happy ;) coil-over Konis all around, straight hollow exhaust and life time smog-exempt in California, registered as 1965 and signed by Carroll Shelby on the dash. Been in numerous magazines. Pin point accuracy handling, 3 inches off the ground, 0-60 in 3.2. Most importantly, developed and boosted a great relationship with both my teenage sons while building. Life time of cherished memories. Its nice to be sitting at a light and you know that you can thake the Audi R8 next to you, but you built it and he paid the dealer. I can go one for ever and have already hijacked my own thread  ;D Although I should say, in comparing builds, this CB750 is kicking my A$$.

Gaither, So true. Okay, I will try the product and report back. I'm using it on a metal surface rusted tank (on the inside)

Man, what a car er, Cobra!!!  Too good to be true - ALL the good stuff (and enough power to steer it with the rear wheels). 'Bet she handles the best. A lot of planning, effort, money and good taste (and FUN!). 'Couldn't be better, IMHO.

Thanks for the video. She's absolutely beautiful!!!!

I appreciate your thoughts about your two sons, too. The important things in life! You, sir are a lucky man.

The only thing I don't like about a Cobra it that I'll never get to own one -

Waaay back, I got to drive the first '65 Shelby Mustang that came to Chattanooga (local Ford Dealer's). While nothing like a Cobra, it was a running, handling little beast (for its time). Bare bones, early production, in racing trim - fuel tank for a back seat, etc., etc. What fun! It made my '65 Mustang GT Coupe feel like a "family sedan" (which it was not).

Yep, you are lucky all around, Kuoros and, with your obvious family values, the kind of guy who deserves it.

Please do let us know how you come out on your tank.

Thanks

Gaither

Love the Cobra, thanks for sharing.

The 750 should be a piece of cake for you now!
