Funny -- nobody has ever discussed oil on this site. Oh wait, yeah they have. Try searching.

I rather like the smell of orange oil.  And, I hear it will ward off termites.  ;D

But then, I wonder why anyone's random advice on a forum would outweigh the manufacturer's recommendations?

You just have to be aware that oil ratings have changed, as well as the fuel ratings (in the US) in order to confuse the public and foster more grandiose marketing claims from competing oil companies.

So, avoid oils that say "energy conserving", or stick with those that say they are suitable for wet clutches.  And you can still use the lowest grade gas available at stations.   But, Ethanol free is preferred.  So, if you can only get ethanol free in higher grades, use that.

Assumes a stock un modified engine with the same compression ratio.

FWIW

Joe, obviously, perhaps unknowingly, you've hit a nerve - since this subject has been "out there" so many, many times. If it stings a bit, don't take it to heart. You're getting off easy.

What ever you do, do not do a search a subject. It is simply far too easy to do.

Yeah, I'm still fairly new here - and did almost as badly before I learned about "search".

*Two-Tired, as usual, has bailed you out with some good (from lots of experience) advice.

I use Mobil Delvac.  It is a diesel engine formula.  Check for Hondaman's oil weight recommendations since the manufacturer recommendations are exactly the best.

The lowest grade fuel gets you the most power and highest fuel mileage.  I could go into the details of it, but let's just rest with the fact that the University I went to (UIUC) is heavily steeped in IC combustion dynamics, and I happened to learn a thing or two in my engineering classes

If anyone actually argues a point on this thread, then I will find your bike and ground the oil pressure sensor wire... again... and again... and again... and again...

So you looked through previous posts on this topic, saw that it's a question that's been asked and gone over so many times and is such a contentious topic that nothing good ever comes of it, and then came to the conclusion that if you asked the question again you would end up getting a well-researched, direct answer even though nobody else ever has.

That's sound logic, son. ;)

On my 400F, power is supplied through the warning light to the pressure switch which completes the circuit to ground when the pressure is low.
