From Westfield Indiana
« on: January 17, 2011, 05:54:01 PM »
Hi my name is Alexander, everyone calls me Sputnik though, a year ago i bought two bikes Honda CB750-F one is a 1979 and the other is 1980. Getting ready to get the first one to run, it runs but i wont ride it until everything is fixed to my hearts content. One needs Exhaust replaced, carbs professionally adjusted (tired of messing with them), Break fluid reservoir replaced, turn signal replaced, mirrors, remove air box and put K&N air filters directly on the carbs and regular over-check of the bike to see if there is anything else is wrong... next winter the bike will be taken apart and repainted but for now it will do. Any pointers anybody can provide will be helpful.... especially any shops in Indiana that will pick up my bike and do the work that i cant or wont.  Here are the bikes.

so do you recommend i make all the neccessary changes first and then have it tuned?.... And one more thing does can this individual tune the carbs with the new set up ( meaning removed old intake box and replaced with K&N filters streight onto the carbs). Problem i'm having currently the bike runs so rich that it floods everything including carbs to the point where i'm having gas dump out of the carbs and it messing with my spark plugs. Also how much will this person charge? does he work in a shop or just a guy like us that likes bikes?

personally, id have it tuned and running great before I did anything else.
If you take the carbs off, and take them to this guy, his name is Sid.  He will clean them for about $80.00  PM me and ill give you his number.  U might also want to find a Forum that deals with DOHC (double overhead cam) Hondas you can prob learn to clean the carbs your self.
