Hello to all,

I recently left my dads shop heading home after working on my 76 750F and I saw a CB750 in the yard of a local mechanics shop.  I am in need of some parts so I stopped to see if he would sell it.  I saw that the parts i need will not work on my bike but he does want to sell it and I am unsure of the year or what it is worth.  The frame number is CB7501037094 and engine- CB7501037420.  In my shop manual it lists it as a CB750K, not the K1 so is it a 69? 70?  Also I have noticed that the older bikes seem to be worth more than the younger ones.  This bike is in need of alot of work but its not all stock.  Its missing the gauges, airbox, sidecovers.  Parts I know that are not stock- exhaust has header with cone muffler, pod air filters,  ingnition, clutch, valve adjusting caps and all covers on the engine are chrome finned.  It does not run, but the engine turns over, the mechanic who owns it thinks it has a bad valve.  So what year is this bike and what is it worth?  Thank you to all in advance who reply with any info helpful.

Thanks,

Clint

So its worth something!  But what year is it?  I know their is no pics and it is in ok shape, not horrible by any means.  It would need a complete rebuild, so 500$?  Maybe more or less?

Thanks,

Clint

Thanks Sam,

I am guessing that it is a 1970 b/c of the later frame and engine #'s.

I'm guessing a '70 also. The K1's started with serial number 44xxx. The VIN plate on the right side, as sitting on the bike, of the head stock should have the build date in the form of month and year stamped on it.
We'll all be someone else's PO some day.

Thanks Bob,

I don't really need the bike because the parts I need are missing or not what I want so If anyone is interested and are not to far away, I can give you directions or get some pics or something.  The guy wants $200 for it.

Where is the bike located so we will know if we're not too far away? Just curious
because, 90% of the time, bikes are too far away to pick up. Most of the time, I could end up
spending more money going after it than I would to actually buy it. Not Good!! Later on, Bill

200 is worth the engine alone, but if you don't plan to restore it, it will become a moneypit. Got buy it and sell it on eBay for $400.

Better yet. Go buy it. Then you sell to us forum members "virtual" lottery tickets of 4 bucks each, numbered from 00 to 99. The one whose ticket have the last to digits of the spanish -or choose any other- lottery winning number of 1st july gets the bike for free, paying only the shipping. You make 200 bucks, somebody gets an almost free bike, and the rest just lose a few bucks.

How about it?

Between Newnan and Griffin on Hwy 16.  PM me and I will give you directions if you want.  I only live about 10 min from the bike, I could meet you there and help you load it on a trailer if you want to buy it.

Yours is an early 1970 CB750. The original Japanese designation is CB750 or CB750K. The intermediate CB750K0 runs in a 44xxx area, K1 starts around 45xxx. If it's in original condition, it's worth a lot, but yours sound like it's missing all the valuable parts so it'll cost a lot to bring it back to stock. So $200 sound like a good deal but 10 years ago I bought the same 1970 model with all the stock parts, except for recovered seat at HM341 pipes instead of HM300s for $200!. I remember seeing a heavily modified chopper with an early "sandcast" engine (the frame was raked but repairable)with the original smooth oil filter bowl! It was selling for $1000 back then. I still should've bought it but I was short in cash. Oh! The Humanity!

I would check out the tank carefully....it is too late to be a wrinkle tank...but if
it has problems that could be expensive to fix or replace. How about the seat?

The plastics and exhaust is the expensive stuff....been there, know that. :o

Hey Guys,

Thank you all so much for the info and help.  I am going to p/u the bike tomorrow morning and it will be mine!!  Well, for about an hour at least.  I have found a guy about 1 hour from me that has the parts I need for my 76 and he wants to buy the 70.  So, I am trailering the bike to him and he is going to buy it from me for what I paid and give me the parts I need for my bike for free.  He is going to do a full resto on it so don't worry about it not being saved.  He has a couple of bikes on ebay for sale now and they look nice in the pics.  I hope I get to see the bikes tomorrow in person and let you know how they look.

here are the auctions he has now.

Clint, this will probably be the worst deal you have ever cut. Unless the parts you need are real sandcast parts.

Raul, I am sure you are right but I am trying to do my bike for as cheap as possible because I don't have much money to spend on it,  But I did take the bike up there today and picked up the parts I needed and I am happy.  The bikes he has on ebay are even nicer in person.  I looked at how he had the dual disks set up on the front of the 72 and I loved the seat that was on it.  So, now I think I am going to set mine up with dual disks in the front.

Thanks,

Clint

        Hey Clint,

I'm sure you know that everybody has their own opinion but, at the end of the day, if
you're satisfied that's all that matters. I know the guys mean well but, you did what felt right for
you. I don't know how it came down but, if he feels good about the deal, you may have made a
connection that will be helpful in the future. Who knows? Good luck with your bike and I hope all
goes well with you.  Later on, Bill

Thanks Bill, you are right.  He seems to really know what hes talking about with these old hondas.  He was happy with the deal and I now have a place to find parts for my bike that I can go and p/u instead of having to wait to be shipped.  We both walked away happy.
I know I could have cleaned up the bike and sold it for more than what I paid or parted it out and made alot more than what I paid but I don't have the time or the space to do that.  I belive in capitalism, I just couldn't make money off this deal b/c the time/space issue right now.  I also believe in karma and I did something nice for a fellow biker and now I feel that if I am in need of help or something then someone will help me.  Its sunny and 75 here today, I really wish my bike was finished so I could take it out for a ride.
Oh well, patience is a virtue, right?   I hope everyone else with beautiful weather is out enjoying a nice, safe ride.

I love raffles! (never won one though...........)  ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"
